Xiaomi Redmi 3S and Redmi 3S Prime users will be happy to hear that Xiaomi has started rolling out MIUI 9 Global Stable ROM update. These are the third batches of Xiaomi phones currently getting the taste of MIUI 9. Xiaomi was supposed to release MIUI 9 update to its third batch of Mi/Redmi phones in December last year, but due to some critical bug the update was delayed. Now, it seems company had a plan to skip MIUI 9.0 update for the third batch of devices to provide MIUI 9.2 directly. Recently, the Redmi Note 3 was among those devices to get MIUI 9.2 update directly instead of MIUI 9.
The new update for Redmi 3S/Prime brings the version MIUI 9.2.2.0.MALMIEK and is of 376 MB in size. It is still based on Marshmallow only, and includes April 2017 security patch, which is really old and device remains vulnerable to KRACK WPA2 which Xiaomi fixed in other devices including Note 3. It is still a Nightly build where user’s feedback is highly appreciated. If no bugs detected, company rolls out stable OTA update to all Redmi 3S/Prime users.
This update brings several new features including New Galley App, Calendar Cards, App Vault, Mi Video App, New Mi Explorer, Mi Drop and a refreshed UI. Unfortunately, there is no Split Screen feature along with this update. But, the Redmi 3S/Prime users can expect in future updates.
Currently, the MIUI 9.2.2.0 Global Stable update for Redmi 3S/Prime is rolling out via OTA and users will receive the notification pop up once the update is ready for download and install. Users can also manually check for updates from the path Settings > About Phone > System updates > Check for update.
