Igeekphone News: Xiaomi has expanded its Redmi K Pad 2 tablet lineup with a new memory configuration, bringing a 16GB RAM + 256GB storage variant to its compact high-performance tablet series. The device continues to target users looking for flagship-level performance in a smaller form factor, featuring an 8.8-inch display, a powerful processor, and gaming-focused upgrades.
Xiaomi originally launched the Redmi K Pad 2 in April this year as a premium compact tablet designed for entertainment and gaming. The tablet debuted with an official starting price of 3,399 yuan, while retail platforms such as JD.com offered an initial starting price of around 3,099 yuan.
The newly introduced 16GB + 256GB version has now joined the existing lineup, although Xiaomi has not yet announced its official pricing. For comparison, the current 12GB + 256GB model is priced at around 3,999 yuan, with its lowest historical price reaching approximately 2,889 yuan. Meanwhile, the higher-end 16GB + 512GB version is currently priced at 4,599 yuan, with a historical low of around 3,399 yuan.

Flagship Performance in a Compact Design
The Redmi K Pad 2 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 flagship chipset, delivering high-end performance for gaming, productivity, and multimedia applications. To maintain stable performance during intensive workloads, Xiaomi has equipped the tablet with an upgraded 15,300mm² ultra-large aluminum liquid cooling VC system, improving heat dissipation during long gaming sessions.
Unlike many large-format tablets, the Redmi K Pad 2 focuses on portability with its compact 8.8-inch form factor. The device features a fully integrated metal body design and is available in three color options: Space Silver, Electric Purple, and Deep Black.
The tablet also introduces customizable physical buttons and a dedicated one-click switch for Aggressive Mode, allowing users to quickly activate enhanced performance settings when gaming.
3K 165Hz Display Designed for Gaming
One of the highlights of the Redmi K Pad 2 is its high-performance display. The tablet features a 3K flagship LCD panel with support for up to 1100 nits peak brightness and an impressive 165Hz refresh rate.
For gaming enthusiasts, Xiaomi has optimized the screen with more than 40 native 165fps game modes and collaborated with over 200 professional esports players to improve touch response and control accuracy. The tablet is particularly tuned for competitive FPS games, where fast reactions and precise input are essential.
Large Battery and Enhanced Audio Experience
Despite its compact size, the Redmi K Pad 2 packs a large 9,100mAh battery, providing extended usage for gaming, video playback, and daily productivity. The tablet also supports dual USB-C ports, offering greater flexibility for charging and accessories.
For audio, Xiaomi has equipped the device with dual X-axis linear motors for improved haptic feedback and partnered with Sound by Bose for audio tuning. The tablet includes two 16.2mm full-range speakers combined with a large 2.0cc sound chamber, aiming to deliver a more immersive entertainment experience.
Productivity Features and Stylus Support
Beyond gaming, the Redmi K Pad 2 also supports multiple PC-level applications, making it suitable for productivity tasks such as document editing and creative work. The device is compatible with various stylus accessories, expanding its usability for note-taking, drawing, and professional workflows.
With its compact size, flagship-class hardware, high-refresh-rate display, and gaming-focused features, the Redmi K Pad 2 positions itself as one of Xiaomi’s most ambitious small-screen tablets. The addition of the 16GB + 256GB version gives consumers another storage and memory option, further strengthening the tablet’s appeal in the premium compact tablet market.
Xiaomi is expected to reveal the official pricing and availability details of the new configuration soon.
