According to blogger Digital chat Station, a new model of Xiaomi, with the model number 2608BPX34C, has officially passed the industrial and information technology ministry’s network certification. This product is expected to be Xiaomi’s first large-scale folding phone MIX Fold 5, and it is also Xiaomi’s highest-end new phone model this year. Many hardware components and self-developed configurations have also emerged.
According to the information disclosed by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, this device is a multi-mode radio terminal that fully supports GSM, 5G, WLAN, Bluetooth and other communication modes. The device was issued with a license on June 5th and has a validity period of up to five years. All radio parameters comply with multiple domestic communication regulations.
At the hardware communication level, this new device not only supports the independent N79 frequency band, but also is equipped with UWB (Ultra-Wide Band) technology. This technology can achieve centimeter-level precise spatial positioning, significantly enhancing the interconnection experience between the phone and smart home devices. It is also one of the signature features of current high-end flagship models.
In terms of appearance and the body structure, based on the revelations from the blogger about the Smart Pikachu model, the MIX Fold 5 adopts an integrated rear camera module in a horizontal position. The overall design is refined and simple. The core structure is equipped with a self-developed seamless hinge by Xiaomi, which effectively optimizes the crease problem of the folding screen, and is also equipped with a side fingerprint recognition solution.
The aspect ratio of the internal and external screens of the new model remains consistent. The screen adopts super pixels and high-brightness specifications, and both the visual experience and outdoor display capabilities will undergo upgrades. In terms of price, this large-sized folding model clearly enters the 10,000-yuan price range and is officially challenging the ultra-high-end folding screen market.
The core configuration is the biggest highlight of the MIX Fold 5. It is reported that this device will be the first to adopt Hyper OS 4.0 system, along with the self-developed Xianji O3 chip by Xiaomi. The performance of this chip can be compared to the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8E5 flagship chip, completely changing the situation where previous generations relied on the Qualcomm platform. It is an important attempt by Xiaomi to fully self-develop its high-end foldable screen products.
For comparison, the previous generation of Xiaomi’s folding flagship, MIX Fold 4, was released in July 2024, with an initial price of 8,999 yuan. It was equipped with the third-generation Snapdragon 8 chip, featuring a 7.98-inch internal screen and a 6.56-inch external screen. It also had a Leica quad-camera setup and a 5100mAh large-capacity battery. MIX Fold 5 has undergone comprehensive iterations in terms of form, chip, system, and structural technology, and its product positioning has significantly improved.
