Unveiled this 27th alongside the Redmi Pro, the Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air came up as a big suprise. With its first ever laptop, Xiaomi is ready to the enter the Computer World. I present to you a 10 point news flash.
1. Mi Air has 2 variants to offer.
Xiaomi decided to launch the Mi Notebook Air in 2 different version. Quite interestingly, there’s a double difference in both the variants. the base version is equipped with as Intel core M3 CPU, 4 gigs of RAM, 12.5 inch screen and no special GPU. The Big buddy of this one sports a Intel Core i5-6200U upto 2.7Ghz processing unit,8 gigs of DDR4 RAM, 256 GB of storage, a bigger 13.3 inch screen and a rocking NVIDIA’s GeForce 940MX graphics card. The difference will be seen in realtime review when we get our hands on the Mi Air.
2. Slimmer and Lighter body.
As shown above, the Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air is ultra slim with a width of 14.8mm which is even 2.2 mm less that the already slimmer Mackbook Air.The slim body also has a lower body weight of just 1.28kgs.
3. Backlit Keyboard
Unlike other laptops at this price point, the Mi Notebook Air has a individual backlit keys full sized keyboard that will help users at night or in dark places. to add , the slim design of the laptop has just 1.3 mm keystroke depth.
4.USB Type C port
Never seen before on any laptop, The Notebook Air has a USB Type C port which will probably be used for charging purposes and will be the first one to do so.
5. A Full HD Display
On the brighter side, The Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air has a full HD 1920 X 1080 display that brings great viewing angles and reduced glare thanks to the laminated screen.
6. SSD Expansion slot.
To overthrow its competitors, The Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air comes with a M.2 SSD Expansion Slot that will let you add more storage space and also you can swap the provided SSD too.
7. Mi Cloud Sync
Just like the Apple’s iCloud, Xiaomi has come up with their own plan of content sync, enabling multiple cross platforms devices to access the content stored in a location.
8. Special Edge to Edge glass Protection
With a hardness of 7 in Mohs scale, the Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air has a good scratch resistant. All the credit goes to the glass coverage that stretches to the display’s edges too.
9. Mi Band 2 control
To bring something new, the Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air can be paired with the Mi Band 2 with Bluetooth 4.1.And if you are near to it , the laptop will automatically be unlocked. the good thing is that the distance is adjustable.
10. Availability and Pricing
As most of the recent Chinese manufacturer’s trend of launching products first only in their homeland and then give a thought about putting the product in the international market,Xiaomi has done the same here. But being its first ever laptop, we can surely expect a global release of the laptop in the near future. The Notebook Air will be available for purchase in China from 2nd of August.The base version costs RMB 3499 and the 13.3 inch version costs RMB 4999.
