The manufacturer of the hidden self-timer camera solution under the screen is obviously not just Oppo. Shortly after the Shenyi people released the relevant demo film this morning, Xiaomi’s side was also released by Lin Bin, who has been more enthusiastic in recent years and released a demonstration video of similar technology. Compared with Oppo, Xiaomi gave little attention to the general effect of the new self-timer camera at the end of the film. It seems acceptable to look at the screen displayed on the screen, but how to wait for the product to come out to make the final judgment.
According to Xiaomi, this new solution will put a small “transparent screen” in the front camera area, which has the characteristics of “low reflection, high light transmittance”. It allows the screen to “act as a lens” to achieve a normal display of content when not taking pictures and to become transparent glass when photographed.
Next is a closer look at the tech via Xiaomi Senior Vice President Wang Xiang. The several frames we see here show the slight difference between a standard OLED display panel and a Transparent Display OLED. The biggest differences come in the Cathode and the Anode, both of which are now transparent – and the OLM (organic luminescent material) in-between works pretty much the same.
“The transparent display doubles as the camera lens,” Xiaomi explained. “By allowing more light into the lens, the display-embedded camera combo is able to produce perfect selfies, clear and crisper than the pinhole camera solution when the camera is activated.

Xiaomi was granted a patent for an in-display camera solution, with a smaller secondary display tucked away behind the main panel. With the Mi Mix series designed to provide an all-screen front with no bezels or cutouts, it’s likely Xiaomi will want to showcase the technology in the Xiaomi Mi Mix 4.
