Samsung Galaxy S11: With a Spectrum Detector For Medical Procedures

Samsung Galaxy S11 / Galaxy S11 Plus may be equipped with a spectrum detector, there are many uses including measuring skin conditions, sugar content in fruits, and even Direct participation in the medical process.

It is reported that as early as 2012, Samsung created the S Health app for the Galaxy S series of smartphones. This feature debuted on the Galaxy S3, providing users with information about sports activities, diet, and sleep. Since 2015, the S-Series has been equipped with a heart rate sensor. Later, S Health changed its name to Samsung Health in 2017, and the Galaxy Note smartphone is also equipped with this convenient application and features.

On March 20, 2019, Samsung Electronics applied to the USPTO (the United States Patent and Trademark Office) and WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) for a patent for “electronic devices including various light sources.” The patent, which was released on September 26, 2019, describes a smartphone with an infrared spectrometer or an infrared spectrometer. Technically, the document describes how a smartphone uses a spectrometer: a series of light sources are provided on the top of the rear camera system of the device. These sources are shown on the left side of the camera system in patent illustrations and product renderings.

The user must aim the Samsung smartphone at the target, such as a piece of fruit, and then the phone sends electromagnetic waves to the subject, including infrared and visible light, and the device receives the reflected signal, based on which the spectral data can be generated.

In this way, the smartphone can determine if your skin is wet enough, measure the heart rate and pressure ratio, and measure the sugar content of the fruit as described above, so you can easily measure the freshness of the fresh produce in your supermarket and store with your mobile phone. And the taste, it can also detect its nutritional value, such as fat, protein, and carbohydrates. Samsung also said in the patent that this feature can also be combined with the 3D front camera and flash.

In recent decades, smartphones have been increasingly functional, with health functions ranging from simple pedometers to heart rate sensors increasingly appearing on our smartphones. These functions can provide feedback on health information. Now, if Samsung’s patented technology can be mass-produced, we can better understand our body.
