As part of a long-awaited Unpacked conference, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S20 Series, the worthy successors to the Galaxy S10 launched in 2019. The trio incorporates several of the novelties that appeared last year, including the perforated Infinity-O screen, the reverse wireless charging and the fingerprint reader under the screen. The Galaxy S20 also offers many new features compared to the S10, including compatibility with the 5G network.
The standard Galaxy S20 is enhanced with a 6.2 inch AMOLED screen. Like all the models in the range, it has a panel with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Samsung allows users to activate this high refresh rate to enjoy a more fluid and responsive screen, ideal for fans of mobile video games. The option obviously consumes more energy. An adjustment, therefore, allows switching to 60 Hz.
Unsurprisingly, the smartphone is powered by the SoC Exynos 990 (engraved in 7nm) designed by Samsung. The chipset is supported by 8 or 12GB of RAM. The autonomy of the terminal is entrusted to a 4000mAh battery compatible with 25W fast charging. Samsung only offers 128GB of internal storage.
On the photography side, Samsung opted for a triple photo sensor composed of a 64MP (f / 2.0) module, a 12MP (f / 1.8) wide-angle sensor, and a last 12MP module (f / 2.2) ultra-wide-angle. The camera has an x3 hybrid zoom and an x30 digital zoom. On the front side, Samsung has placed a 10MP selfie sensor (f2.2).
Very similar to the standard version, the Galaxy S20 + is distinguished only by its larger screen (6.7 inches against 6.2 inches), its ToF photo sensor dedicated to the depth of field and its 4500mAh battery compatible with recharging fast 45 W. Besides, the smartphone is available with 8 or 12GB of RAM and only 128GB of internal storage. Samsung clearly directs the most greedy users to the Galaxy S20 Ultra, the most premium variant of this new generation.
On the design side, the Galaxy S20 takes up part of the visual identity of the Galaxy Note 10. The three smartphones are indeed equipped with a screen whose hole is placed in the center. On the Galaxy S10, Samsung had placed the punch in the right corner of the panel. On the back, the manufacturer has arranged the various modules of the camera in a prominent rectangular shape in the left corner.
The Galaxy S20 Ultra is covered with a huge 6.9-inch 120 Hz AMOLED screen. This premium edition also differs from its little brothers thanks to its camera composed of a 108MP photosensor (F / 1.8). It is an improved version of the ISOCELL Bright HMX designed in partnership with Xiaomi. It is the first module on the market to exceed 100MP. It is also the first sensor for smartphones larger than 1 / 1.3 inches!
Moreover, the camera is composed of a ToF sensor, a 48MP (F / 3.5) telephoto module and a 12MP (f / 2.2) wide-angle sensor. In the hole in the screen, the manufacturer has integrated a 40MP front photosensor (compared to only 10MP for the other S20s).
The Galaxy S20 Ultra is powered by the Exynos 990 SoC coupled with 12 or 16GB of RAM. It is the first time that a smartphone has this much RAM. Samsung has also put the package on autonomy. The smartphone is indeed endowed with an impressive 5000mAh battery compatible with 45W fast charging. In terms of internal storage, Samsung offers 128 or 512GB of ROM.
Samsung is opening pre-orders for the Galaxy S20 following the presentation. The smartphones will be sold in stores from March 13, 2020. The Galaxy S20 is sold at a starting price of $992. The range increases to $1700.

As we already knew, the Galaxy S20 5G compatible are $109 more expensive than the variants confined to 4G. To pass the price pill, Samsung offers a pair of Galaxy Buds + to buyers of a Galaxy S20 + or Ultra who pre-ordered before March 8, 2020.
