Today, Motorola presented the second generation of its folding smartphone called Motorola Razr 5G which seeks to correct the errors of the original. The overall design has remained largely unchanged since the original flexible smartphone went on sale earlier this year.
The device is still equipped with a 6.2-inch bendable display with an aspect ratio of 21.9: 9. On the outer front cover of the device is a 2.7-inch OLED Quick View display, which allows you to quickly check incoming messages, as well as perform some other basic functions without opening the phone.
Only the fingerprint sensor changes place, it is now on the back. From a mechanical point of view, the screen hinge would be stronger according to Motorola. Motorola has also made a number of significant improvements to the smartphone software, such as expanding the functionality of the external display.
Now it allows you to use various applications, including Google Maps, YouTube, games (unless of course, someone wants to play on a 2.7-inch display). In addition, you can reply to messages using the external display without opening the entire phone.
On the technical sheet side, the camera part has nothing to do with the first model. The main rear sensor is now 48MP and it comes with a laser to improve focusing efficiency. Inside, it’s a 20MP sensor for selfies that now finds its place in the notch of the main screen. It’s still a less comprehensive camera set than a mid-range non-folding 2020 smartphone, but it’s a big step up from the first model.
Another good news, the processor is now a Snapdragon 765G faster (which allows adding support for 5G in the process), the amount of RAM memory has been increased to 8GB (compared to 6GB on the original ), the internal storage has been doubled to 256GB and the battery capacity is larger (now at 2800mAh).
Unlike the original version, which was exclusive to the American telecom operator Verizon, the updated Moto Razr smartphone has become more affordable. The device is now available not only from Verizon but also from AT&T and T-Mobile. In addition, the new product will be available without being tied to any of the operators. You can find it at Best Buy, B&H Photo, Amazon, and Motorola’s own website.
Motorola has not yet announced the exact date of the device’s sale but indicates that the model will also be available from some Chinese, European, Latin American retailers, as well as in some countries in the Middle East and Asia-Pacific region. The manufacturer estimated the updated version of the Motorola Razr 5G at $1399. This is $100 less than the original model. Sales will begin this fall.
