Why online casinos are more accessible now than ever before

From the earliest recorded evidence of gambling which dates back to 3000 BC; a six-sided dice, to the oldest casino in the world opened in 1638, the Casino di Venezia, which sits on the Grand Canal in Venice. Interestingly enough, the Casino di Venezia was originally a theatre called the Theatre Saint Moses and had a wing for gambling where people could gamble during the intermissions of plays. Today, there are 2149 official casinos in the world, buildings dedicated solely for the purpose of gambling, and the number keeps growing. Historically if you wanted to gamble, you would need to visit a physical casino in your city. This all changed when in 1994, Microgaming developed the first online casino platform. This was the first time that players could gamble online, which was revolutionary, however, it was only in 1996 that an integrated payment system was established. It wasn’t long after that, when in 2004, Pub Fruity was released, and could be argued to be the roots of mobile gaming. Finally, in 2006, Spin3 released real money games, which were far and few in-between, which is what players were waiting for. Let’s take a look at what is happening today with mobile gambling, and why online casinos are more accessible now than ever before. The market is always changing with new casinos coming into the space bringing new innovation. You have the likes of Gambola now offering an incredible 1,200 games operating in markets from Europe through to Asia, click here if you want to find out more about Gambola and their current offerings.

More processing power in your pocket

We have all seen the evolution of laptops, each year becoming slimmer, compared to the first few generations of laptops of the 21st century. That all pales in comparison to the leaps and bounds of progress we have made with mobile phones. Many people often say that the smartphones of today are more powerful than the mainframe computer NASA used to send astronauts to the moon, but actually, they are more powerful than most laptops in use today. Consider that your average laptop comes standard with 4GB of RAM, a 1366×768 screen resolution and a 500GB HDD. The Samsung Note20 has 8GB of RAM, a 2400×1080 screen resolution and 128GB of storage with a microSD slot which makes it possible to have 2TB of storage. The Galaxy S8 and Note8 are powered by the same processor, the Qualcomm Snapdragon, as the new Windows 10 laptops that are being made by HP, Asus and Lenovo. There’s a good reason for laptop manufacturers, like Samsung and Microsoft, to focus on developing smartphones to be more functional; 3.5 billion people own them. Three times more people own smartphones than computers.

High speed internet wherever you are

Laptops, desktop computers and smartphones all require an internet connection if you want to use the internet, however the main difference between them is that smartphones use a cellular network. This means that laptops and computers are usually connected to the internet using a LAN or Wi-Fi network and if those networks lose connection, your smartphone won’t. With the introduction of 5G, you will have access to speeds that range from 50Mbits/s to over a gigabit/s, this rivals the speed of fibre internet. It is also more affordable since there are other benefits from most service providers, such as unlimited minutes and texts. This unlimited access to high-speed internet gives you the advantage of connecting wherever you are; in the bus, train, at a restaurant or during your lunchbreak, without needing to lug your laptop around. Computers also need to be plugged to a power source in order to be used, and with most laptops the battery life tends to wear out after a few months. However, a smartphone typically only needs to be charged for an hour and can suffer intensive usage for an entire day before needing to be charged again.

    Intuitive Technology

Smartphones have touchscreens which feel much more natural than using a mouse and keyboard, they’re also small and easy to carry around. Considering all of these advantages, it’s not difficult to understand why it is much more convenient to visit an online casino using your smartphone, and cheaper, since they are more affordable than laptops and computers. You have to wonder if there is an untapped market for online casinos. If you were to take into account that more than half of everyone who gambled last year used their smartphones to do it, you might realize that the future of online casinos might be in the palm of your hand.
