Today, in the announcement of the MIUI update to version 20.12.7, the group responsible for preparing the MIUI release in China announced that due to the gradual preparation for the release of MIUI 12.5, there will be no updates for smartphones with this shell.
As per usual practice, there are several regular updates between every two major MIUI versions. However, this time, for the first time in ten years, MIUI will not update the developer version before updating the interim version. The MIUI 12.5 release is supposed to have the largest feature update in shell history.
MIUI updates will no longer be available starting next Monday, December 14th. The suspension has no specific timeline, which means that version 20.12.9, which will be released this week, will be the last update before the long hiatus. MIUI12.5 is further modernized and optimized in terms of animation design, security, privacy, and more. This is a major update for Xiaomi’s dream of creating a true rival to iOS.
