The week of launching Samsung‘s new folding phones — Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 has finally arrived. The models are expected to be revealed on 1 August, although most of their details are not secret after the massive leaks. Now, just before its official announcement, a promotional video of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 was released by leaker Evan Blass.
Before we start It is worth noting that both phones will be official on August 11. In addition to them, Samsung will announce the Galaxy Watch 4, Watch 4 Classic, and Buds 2.
Moments after publication, the video was taken down due to Samsung’s copyright, but some users have produced screenshots that may reveal new details about the news — including the possibility of an exclusive version of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 for the United States.
In terms of design, there’s not much to reveal, but the teaser confirms that Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 will be the “first water-resistant foldable smartphones” — confirming the previously predicted IPX8 rating — and that the Z Fold 3 will support the S Pen, stylus ever speculated in previous rumors.
The S Pen should fit into a compartment around the Z Fold 3, offering a solution to the problem of equipping the stylus in a foldable. On the other hand, you can notice a red watermark at the top of the image above with the words “US Only” (“exclusive to the United States”, in free translation).
It was not clear what the company intends to make exclusive to the North American country, but it is speculated that the model supported by the S Pen may only land in a selected market. Interestingly, the same ad was posted “unintentionally” by the company in Malaysia without the watermark (see images above).
Anyway, the promotional video confirmed most of the features of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 smartphones. Both smartphones will be quite powerful. They will also be quite expensive, but not as expensive as their predecessors at launch. Samsung managed to slash those price tags.
The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is expected to arrive with 256GB and 512GB storage options with 12GB of RAM. Those two models have a cost of €1899 and €1999. The Galaxy Z Flip 3 with 128GB and 256GB storage options will cost €1099 and €1149, respectively. Needless to say, these are European price tags.
