Igeekphone February 28 news, Qualcomm recently released a promotional video, focusing on the AI performance of its Snapdragon X Elite processor, in AI-generated pictures, the processing speed is 10 times that of Intel Core Ultra 7 processor.
Qualcomm says its Snapdragon X Elite processor is equipped with an AI coprocessor (NPU), which has a performance of up to 45 TOPS (trillion operations per second), and the video takes the execution of Stable Diffusion and GIMP image generation programs as an example. This compares to Intel’s Core Ultra 7 processor, which also has an NPU.
Qualcomm later announced more details, Snapdragon X Elite test using Stable Diffusion and Fast Stable Diffusion version 1.5; Intel Core Ultra 7 processors were tested using Stable Diffusion 1.5 with OpenVINO Backend and user_guide_for_windos_users plugins.
The video starts by testing Stable Diffusion, asking to generate an image using the same prompt word. A Snapdragon X Elite powered laptop completed the task of generating a fruit image in 7.25 seconds, while an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor based laptop completed the task in 22.26 seconds.
In the GIMP generator, two systems are responsible for generating images, this time of a lion bathed in sunlight. Systems using the Snapdragon X Elite use the native Qualcomm AI Stack plugin, and Snapdragon powered laptops become 10 different lion images in 12.12 seconds.
Intel machines using the OpenVINO plugin produced only one image in the same time frame.
Andrey Sozinov, a production editor who is attending MWC 2024, said that in a live demonstration, the Snapdragon X Elite based laptop outperformed Intel Core Ultra 7 devices in the same Stable Diffusion image generation task.
The Snapdragon X Elite’s advantage in AI tasks is to be expected, as the NPU included in Intel’s Core Ultra chip only delivers a maximum of 34 TOPS of performance. Meteor Lake is Intel’s first processor with an NPU.
Intel has previously said that the next generation of Arrow Lake (desktop) and Lunar Lake (mobile) processors will have three times the AI performance of Meteor Lake.
