Chuwi GemiBook Plus N150 vs CoreBook X 7430U: A Comparison Review

In the crowded market of budget and mid-range laptops, Chuwi has carved a niche by offering solid specs at competitive prices. Two of their latest releases—the GemiBook Plus N150 and CoreBook X 7430U—are tailored for users who need productivity on the go without breaking the bank. But while they both promise high performance and portability, they cater to slightly different user bases. Here’s how they compare across design, display, performance, features, and overall value.

    Design & Build Quality

Chuwi GemiBook Plus N150 sports a minimalist design with a 15.6-inch form factor housed in a durable polycarbonate shell. At 1745g and 12mm at its thinnest point, it’s relatively lightweight for its size. The larger chassis allows for a full-size keyboard and an expanded touchpad, making typing and navigation comfortable. It’s designed with practicality in mind, especially for casual users and students.

In contrast, the CoreBook X 7430U is slightly smaller with a 14-inch frame but has a more premium feel. It weighs 3.09 lbs (around 1400g) and is even thinner at just 10.9mm. The aluminum alloy finish and modern design lend it a more refined appearance. The borderless backlit keyboard and large 5.8″ precision touchpad enhance its usability in darker environments—ideal for professionals or users who work in varying conditions.

Verdict: CoreBook X feels more premium and modern, while the GemiBook Plus is practical and slightly larger for those who prefer a bigger screen.

    Display

The Chuwi GemiBook Plus N150 features a 15.6-inch IPS FHD screen (1920×1080) with a standard 16:9 aspect ratio and up to 230 nits brightness. It’s perfectly serviceable for movies, browsing, and office tasks, and the low blue light tech makes it suitable for extended use.

The CoreBook X 7430U, on the other hand, takes things up a notch with a 2K resolution (2160×1440), 3:2 aspect ratio, and 100% sRGB coverage. This makes it a better choice for photo editing, design work, or simply enjoying more screen space vertically while working with documents or coding.

Verdict: For media professionals or color-accurate work, the CoreBook X’s 2K display is clearly superior. For everyday use, GemiBook’s FHD screen is still more than adequate.

    Performance & Graphics

Under the hood, the GemiBook Plus N150 runs on Intel’s Twin Lake N150 processor with 4 cores and 4 threads, maxing out at 3.6 GHz. Paired with 16GB LPDDR5 RAM (4800MHz) and integrated Intel graphics (24EUs at 1GHz), it handles daily tasks like browsing, media consumption, and light productivity without a hitch. It even supports 4K output via HDMI, but it’s not designed for heavy multitasking or gaming.

The CoreBook X 7430U, however, is powered by AMD’s Ryzen 5 7430U—a 6-core, 12-thread processor with a 4.3 GHz boost. With AMD Radeon Graphics (7 cores, 1800 MHz, 2GB VRAM), this laptop can comfortably manage heavier multitasking, photo editing, and even some light gaming or creative software workloads.

Verdict: In raw power and graphical capabilities, CoreBook X is the clear winner, ideal for professionals, content creators, or power users. GemiBook Plus suits basic to moderate workloads.

    Storage, Upgrades & Connectivity

Both laptops feature a 512GB PCIe SSD, ensuring quick boot times and responsive performance. GemiBook uses LPDDR5 RAM (non-upgradable), while the CoreBook uses DDR4 SO-DIMM (upgradeable up to 64GB). That gives CoreBook a major advantage in future-proofing.

Connectivity-wise, the Chuwi GemiBook Plus N150 provides Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, HDMI, and essential USB ports. The CoreBook X, however, includes dual USB-C ports (one with full data/video/charging), two USB-A 3.0 ports, HDMI, a TF card slot, and Wi-Fi 6, offering better port versatility for modern workflows.

Verdict: CoreBook X wins again in expandability and I/O options, especially for users needing a wider range of ports and RAM upgrade options.

    Battery & Charging

The GemiBook Plus features a 38Wh battery, which is enough for light to moderate usage throughout a workday. It’s ideal for students or travelers needing a few hours of productivity on the go.

Meanwhile, the CoreBook X offers a larger 46.2Wh battery and includes a 65W USB-C fast charger. You can get up to 50% charge in just 1 hour, and a full charge in about 2.5 hours. This quick-charging feature is a real asset for professionals.

Verdict: CoreBook X offers longer battery life and significantly faster charging, making it a better choice for frequent travelers or work-from-anywhere users.

    Webcam & Extras

The Chuwi GemiBook Plus N150 features a 2MP HD webcam with a physical privacy shutter, which is great for video calls and privacy. The CoreBook X doesn’t highlight webcam features but focuses more on typing comfort with its backlit keyboard and thermal management through a dedicated fan and heat pipe.

Verdict: GemiBook takes a slight lead in webcam usability with its privacy shutter, while CoreBook focuses on a better typing and cooling experience.

    Conclusion: Which One to Choose?

Both the Chuwi GemiBook Plus N150 and the CoreBook X 7430U deliver great value, but they cater to different types of users.

    • Choose GemiBook Plus N150 if you’re a casual user, student, or home office worker who values a larger screen, full keyboard, and decent performance for everyday tasks—without spending too much.

    • Opt for the CoreBook X 7430U if you’re a power user, creative professional, or business user who needs a sharper display, better multitasking ability, expandability, and faster charging.

In short, the GemiBook Plus is your go-to everyday companion, while the CoreBook X stands as a more refined, high-performance machine ready for heavier workloads.
