July 7 – Igeekphone News
New details about Huawei’s upcoming foldable smartphone lineup have surfaced, suggesting the company is preparing a major expansion of its foldable portfolio over the next two years.
According to Chinese tech tipster Digital Chat Station, Huawei plans to launch two flagship foldable smartphones in the second half of 2026: the next-generation Huawei Mate XT2 tri-fold flagship and the Huawei Mate X9 large foldable. The leak also claims that Huawei is developing a brand-new compact wide-fold device, expected to debut in 2027.
Huawei Mate XT2 Could Introduce a New Folding Design
The Huawei Mate XT2 is expected to succeed the original Mate XT tri-fold smartphone and focus primarily on improving its folding mechanism.
According to current rumors, the device will replace the existing S-shaped folding structure with a completely new U-shaped folding design. Instead of folding in opposite directions, both sides of the flexible display would fold inward, enclosing and protecting the main screen inside the device.

The Mate XT2 is also rumored to feature a dedicated external display, allowing users to handle everyday tasks—such as answering calls, replying to messages, or scanning QR codes—without unfolding the main screen.
Powering the device is expected to be Huawei’s upcoming Kirin 9050 Pro processor, which could make its debut in the Mate XT2.
Huawei Mate X9 Expected to Get a Bigger Display and Larger Battery
Another major addition to Huawei’s foldable lineup is the Mate X9, the successor to the Mate X series.
According to the leak, the device will retain a 6.5-inch outer display while increasing the size of its foldable inner display to 8.15 inches, up from the 8.0-inch panel found on the previous generation.
Like the Mate XT2, the Mate X9 is expected to be powered by the Kirin 9050 Pro, which is also rumored to debut alongside the Huawei Mate 90 smartphone series.
Battery life is also expected to improve significantly, with the Mate X9 reportedly featuring a battery capacity of more than 6,000mAh.

On the camera front, Huawei is said to be upgrading the imaging system with a larger 1/1.3-inch main camera sensor, complemented by a dedicated telephoto camera and, likely, an ultra-wide-angle lens.
The Mate X9 is expected to start at around 10,000 yuan (approximately $1,390), although pricing for the Mate XT2 has yet to be revealed.
New “Small Wide-Fold” Device Could Arrive in 2027
Beyond its 2026 foldable lineup, the leak suggests Huawei is planning to introduce an entirely new compact wide-fold smartphone in 2027.
While details remain scarce, industry observers believe the device could become the successor to the Huawei Pura X, offering a more compact foldable design aimed at users seeking a balance between portability and a larger display.
As with all early leaks, Huawei has not officially confirmed these products, and specifications, launch timelines, and pricing could change before release.
