Mouse X2 12.2-Inch Laptop Launches at Just 981g With AMD Ryzen AI 7 350

Japanese PC maker Mouse Computer has introduced the mouse X2, a compact 12.2-inch laptop designed for users who want a highly portable Windows PC without giving up modern connectivity or AMD Ryzen processing power.

For readers comparing ultra-light laptops, the mouse X2 stands out by combining a sub-1kg chassis with a relatively large 12.2-inch display and a full selection of connectivity options.

The standout feature is its weight. The mouse X2 weighs only 981 grams, while packing a 60Wh battery, a 12.2-inch 16:10 display and an optional AMD Ryzen AI 7 350 processor in its highest-end configuration.

With a compact chassis, MIL-STD-810H testing and Wi-Fi 7 connectivity, the mouse X2 is positioned as a lightweight mobile laptop for students, business users and people who regularly work away from a desk.

A 12.2-Inch Laptop That Weighs Less Than 1kg

Portability is clearly the main selling point of the mouse X2.

The laptop measures 277.1 × 210.2 × 19mm and weighs approximately 981g. That puts it firmly in the ultra-portable category, making it easier to carry in a backpack or work bag throughout the day.

Despite its small footprint, Mouse Computer has not treated the X2 as a basic entry-level notebook. The company has subjected the machine to MIL-STD-810H testing, giving the compact laptop a stronger focus on durability for mobile use. Japanese coverage also reports a 100kgf load test on the lid.

    12.2-Inch 16:10 Display With 100% sRGB

    The mouse X2 features a 12.2-inch LCD panel with a 1920 × 1200 resolution and a 60Hz refresh rate.

Its 16:10 aspect ratio provides additional vertical workspace compared with traditional 16:9 laptop displays. This can be useful when reading documents, browsing websites or working with office applications.

The panel also covers 100% of the sRGB color space, giving the X2 a stronger display specification than its compact dimensions might initially suggest.

Up to AMD Ryzen AI 7 350

Mouse Computer offers three processor configurations for the X2.

The flagship version uses the AMD Ryzen AI 7 350, while lower-priced versions are available with the Ryzen AI 5 340 and Ryzen 5 216.

The Ryzen AI 7 350 configuration combines the lightweight chassis with AMD’s AI-capable mobile processor, making the X2 more than just a basic ultraportable for web browsing and office work. Mouse Computer’s broader Ryzen AI lineup positions the chip for AI PC and creative workloads as well.

The Ryzen AI 5 340 and Ryzen AI 7 350 configurations also target Microsoft’s Copilot+ PC class, according to Japanese reporting.

60Wh Battery in a Compact Chassis

The mouse X2 includes a 60Wh battery, which is notable for a laptop weighing under 1kg.

Battery capacity alone does not determine actual runtime, since processor selection, screen brightness, software workload and power settings all affect endurance. However, the combination of a 60Wh battery and compact hardware shows that Mouse Computer has placed considerable emphasis on mobile productivity.

For the Ryzen AI 7 350 model, Japanese specifications report up to around 12.5 hours of video playback in Eco mode and approximately 25 hours under idle conditions.

Wi-Fi 7 and Optional Cellular Connectivity

Wireless connectivity is another strong point.

The mouse X2 comes with a built-in Wi-Fi 7 wireless network adapter, while cellular connectivity can be added as an option. This gives the laptop more flexibility for users who frequently work outside traditional office or home Wi-Fi environments.

The machine also includes a 2-megapixel camera with support for facial recognition, making Windows Hello-style biometric login possible on compatible configurations.

Plenty of Ports for a Small Laptop

Although the X2 is extremely compact, Mouse Computer has included a relatively generous selection of physical ports.

    The available connections include:

    • Two USB-C ports with up to 40Gbps transfer speeds
    • Two USB-A ports supporting up to 5Gbps
    • One Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 port
    • One microSD UHS-I card reader
    • One 3.5mm combined audio jack

This selection gives the X2 an advantage over some ultra-thin laptops that rely heavily on USB-C hubs and adapters.

    Three Configurations and Japanese Pricing

The mouse X2 is available in three main configurations:

    Configuration Price in Japan
    Ryzen AI 7 350 / 16GB RAM / 500GB storage ¥259,800
    Ryzen AI 5 340 / 16GB RAM / 500GB storage ¥239,800
    Ryzen 5 216 / 8GB RAM / 256GB storage ¥199,800

The prices above are tax-inclusive Japanese prices. The Ryzen 5 216 version is scheduled for a later sales period, while the Ryzen AI models target users who want more capable processing and AI features.

Is the Mouse X2 a Good Ultra-Portable Laptop?

The mouse X2 takes a straightforward approach: keep the computer small and light without stripping away useful hardware.

Its 981g weight is arguably the biggest attraction, but the combination of a 60Wh battery, 12.2-inch 1920×1200 display, Wi-Fi 7, Ethernet, microSD support and multiple USB ports makes the design more practical for mobile productivity.

The top Ryzen AI 7 350 configuration is particularly interesting because it brings an AI-capable processor into a laptop that weighs less than 1kg.

For users who prioritize portability but still want a conventional laptop with a useful selection of ports, the mouse X2 could be one of the more interesting compact Windows laptops in Mouse Computer’s lineup.
