Vaporesso XROS 3 vs XROS 5 vs XROS Pro 2: which pod kit suits you?

Vaporesso’s XROS line has become the default recommendation for anyone who wants a slim refillable pod kit without a learning curve. The catch is that the range now has several generations on sale at once, and the names do not make the differences obvious. This guide compares the three you are most likely to be choosing between, the XROS 3, the XROS 5 (plus its Mini sibling) and the XROS Pro 2, so you can match the kit to how you actually vape.

What every XROS has in common

All three share the same basic recipe. Each is a slim aluminium stick with a built-in battery, a 2ml pod that fills from the top through a port under the mouthpiece, and a mesh coil sealed inside the pod. When the flavour dulls, you swap the whole pod rather than fiddling with a coil. All of them charge over USB-C, fire when you inhale, and are built for mouth-to-lung or restricted direct-to-lung draws with 50/50 or higher-PG e-liquid, nicotine salt included. None of them is a cloud machine, and that is the point.

Where they differ is battery size, charging speed, power, controls and which pods they accept.

    XROS 3: the simple one

The XROS 3 is the entry point. It runs a 1000mAh battery at 11 to 16 watts, charges over USB-C at 1A, and weighs 46 grams. It comes with 0.6 ohm and 1.0 ohm pods: the 1.0 ohm pod gives a tight mouth-to-lung draw with a small amount of vapour, the 0.6 ohm pod opens things up for a restricted direct-to-lung pull. An airflow slider fine-tunes either.

It has a single button that doubles as a fire button, so you can press or inhale, and Vaporesso’s Pulse Mode gives a slightly stronger hit at the start of each puff. There is no screen. If you want fewer controls still, the XROS 3 Mini drops the button entirely, runs at 5 to 15 watts and weighs just over 40 grams.

The limitation is pods. The XROS 3 takes the standard XROS pods but not the 0.4 ohm Corex 3.0 pods made for the Pro line, so the airiest option is off the table.

XROS 5 and XROS 5 Mini: the battery and charging upgrade

The XROS 5 moves the battery up to 1500mAh and adds proper fast charging: 3A over USB-C takes it to around 80 percent in about 20 minutes. Power is adjustable from 15 to 30 watts on a 0.88 inch colour screen, which also shows the mode and battery level, and you can fire by button or by inhaling. The airflow slider stays. It weighs 73.7 grams.

Just as important, the XROS 5 accepts the full XROS pod range from 0.4 to 1.2 ohm. The pre-installed pods use Corex 2.0 mesh, and the 1.0 and 1.2 ohm pods make it one of the better cigarette-style draws in a pod kit, while 0.4 and 0.6 ohm pods give a warmer, airier vape from the same body.

The Vaporesso XROS 5 Mini keeps the 1500mAh battery and the full pod compatibility but strips out the screen and the button. It charges at 2A, reaching about 80 percent in half an hour, sets its own output between 10 and 25 watts to suit the fitted pod, and shows battery level through four hidden LEDs. At 65 grams and 11 centimetres tall it is the kit to hand to someone who wants nothing to press and nothing to set.

XROS Pro 2: the most capable

The XROS Pro 2 is the top of this group. Its 2000mAh battery is the largest, a full charge over USB-C takes around 75 minutes, and output runs from 5 to 30 watts. A single lockable button switches between Eco, Normal and Power modes, so you decide how much vapour the kit makes, and the airflow slider covers everything from a tight mouth-to-lung draw to a genuine direct-to-lung pull.

Two Corex 3.0 pods come in the box, a 0.4 ohm and a 0.6 ohm, which is why the Pro 2 is the only one of the three that feels at home with a looser draw straight out of the packaging. It also takes the full Corex pod range from 0.4 to 1.2 ohm, so a tighter pod is one swap away. At 126 by 25 by 18 millimetres and 65 grams, it stays pocketable.

    Which one should you buy

Pick the XROS 3 if you want the lightest kit, you vape tight mouth-to-lung and you will never want the airiest pods. It is the cheapest way into the range and still a very good one.

Pick the XROS 5 Mini if you are switching from disposables and want the same no-button simplicity with a bigger battery and faster charging. For most people leaving single-use vapes behind it is the easiest recommendation of the four.

Pick the XROS 5 if you like the Mini’s battery but want a screen, adjustable wattage and the option to press a button.

Pick the XROS Pro 2 if you want the biggest battery, selectable power modes and a kit that can swing between a cigarette-style draw and a direct-to-lung one with a pod change.

All four take the same family of pods, so you are not locked into a flavour or a resistance whichever body you choose. If you want to compare the current colours and bundle options side by side, the Vaporesso pod kits range at Vape Forest lists every XROS generation on one page.
