How AR and VR Are Changing the Game in Several Industries

Augmented reality and virtual reality are the hottest tech trends of 2020. This tech improves any user’s view of the real world by layering additional information and providing 3D elements to help them better understand the world. To get latest Virtual Reality News, click here.

If you’re looking to design a mobile app that harnesses this powerful tech, it pays to understand the major areas where its use is growing fastest.

AR and VR are already growing in popularity and demand in the healthcare sector, with experts predicting that this industry will reach $5.1 billion by the year 2025. Medical professionals are already using AR/VR-enabled devices to diagnose and treat a number of illnesses.

    Dental Care

This tech allows for reconstruction of the patient anatomy through effective image-based tracking and spatial information. In dental care, professionals use 3D scanning systems in order to generate dental abutments. This system is especially helpful when planning for dental surgical interventions.

A new and innovative virtual reality training system called 3D Tooth Atlas 9 is now out on the market for the next generation of dentists, allowing them to benefit from and gain in-depth knowledge of the structure and ailments of human teeth.

The VR model of human jaws with all teeth in place will allow the students to see the most realistic representation of each type of tooth, understand how they grow, why they develop cavities, and other issues. The 3D model of the human teeth is also enhanced with AR capabilities that are structured into five sections: Periodontology, Anthropology, Odontogenesis, Dental Embryology, and Clinical Access.

    Retail

Next, we are going to be looking at how AR and VR are making waves in the retail industry and the benefits these technologies have for the customers in a retail setting. When you work in the retail industry, you will be competing by offering users the best buying and digital experience. With the existing blurring lines between physical shopping and digital shopping, augmented and virtual reality will enable businesses to bridge the existing gap.

Businesses in the retail industry will need to offer their customers new ways of shopping and trying out items online before buying them. They will also need to replace your traditional retail shop with virtual showrooms. This retail solution has already been launched by NexTech through a mobile app called Try-It-On, which is a new functionality of their AR e-commerce platform.

This feature is a good example of AR capabilities because it uses facial tracking capabilities and AI-powered technology to create a truly immersive environment. Try-It-On is an app that enables users to “try on” all sorts of different accessories, from headwear and jewelry to glasses. This technology also comes with eye-tracking capabilities, which enables shoppers to see a virtual preview of themselves wearing eyeglasses. More features are in the works, such as support for the lips, ears, as well as other areas above the shoulder. Consumers can even browse makeup, earrings, and more through this AR platform.

If you have the next great retail app idea, you’ll need to take a page from Try-It-On’s book and carefully consider your demographic and the precise service you want to offer. Be sure you partner with an Android and iOS developer like Guarana Technologies, who will treat you like a partner throughout the design and development process and ensure that your dream app does exactly what you want it to do.

Finally, AR and VR are making waves in the interior design industry in many different ways as well. AR-enhanced shopping is continuously expanding, becoming more and more popular among consumers. Wayfair is introducing an augmented reality feature in its mobile app for Android that will allow customers to visualize furniture in their own home ahead of purchase, just by holding up their smartphone.

The feature, which is called “View in Room 3D”, was previously available on iOS, using Apple’s AR platform ARKit. Now Wayfair is taking advantage of Google’s ARCore to offer the same option to Android users. ARCore is Google’s answer to Apple’s AR platform, which has given developers a way to integrate AR technology into their Android applications, where they can reach a potential audience of over 100 million Android devices.

If your new app idea will harness the power of AR or VR, be sure to partner with a developer who understands its applicability in Health, Retail, and Design and you’ll be well on your way to a successful launch.
