The first 7nm SoC is officially here. The reason for the Apple A12 Bionic Soc, which crashes the Android competition with Snapdragon 845 SoC, both in real-world tests and in synthetic benchmarks.
The new six-chip found in the iPhone XS and XS Max features two performance cores that are designed to be 15% faster than predecessors and four high-efficiency cores that use 50% less power. Of course, there is also the GPU, which Apple says is 50% faster.
The Geekbench 4 is a benchmark that measures overall performance and no other smartphone comes close to the performance of Apple’s new handsets. The iPhone XS reached 11,420, XS Max 11,515. There is a significant distance between new iPhones and Android flagships. The fastest Android smartphone, OnePlus 6 reached 9,088 in Geekbench 4 with 8GB RAM, while Galaxy Note 9 was 8,876.
During the above test, they used Adobe Premier Clips to transcode a 4K 1080p 2K resolution video. The iPhone X last year was light years ahead with a time of only 42 seconds, and this time, iPhone XS and XS Max managed to reduce the time to 39 seconds.
A good way to measure performance in real terms is to see how much the smartphone needs to load specific demanding applications. Because smartphones have the same processor, they used the iPhone XS Max and put it against the iPhone X and Galaxy Note 9.
But here iPhones are left behind. 3D Mark measures graphics performance by evaluating everything from rendering to volumetric lighting. The OnePlus 6 fared quite well, followed by the Note 9 and S9. The iPhone XS Max and iPhone X stayed behind.
According to the data released by Antutu, the 3 new iPhones are equipped with 7nm process A12 bionic chips, which the iPhone XS series is equipped with 4GB of RAM, while the iPhone XR has 3GB RAM.
In the comprehensive Antutu benchmark, the iPhone XS scored an impressive 363,525 points. Note, the flagship Android-smartphones based on the most productive at the moment Snapdragon 845 processor gain in the test AnTuTu about 290,000 points. Thus, the iPhone Xs is about 20% ahead of its competitors from the Android camp.
Based on all of the above tests, the A12 Bionic inside the iPhone XS and XS Max makes it the fastest phones you can buy. Android smartphones with Snapdragon 845 are fast, but they are one step behind Apple devices.
