Xiaomi, the renowned Chinese smartphone manufacturer, is set to launch its latest entry-level smartphones, the Redmi A2 and Redmi A2+. These smartphones are expected to be equipped with the MediaTek Helio G36 System-on-Chip (SoC), designed to deliver high performance and power efficiency. The Redmi A2+ is rumored to have an added feature of fingerprint recognition, a great security feature for an entry-level phone. 
Recent certification listings suggest that the Redmi A2 and A2+ smartphones are nearing their official launch. The Redmi A2 (model number 23028RN4DG) and the Redmi A2+ (model number 23028RNCAG) have been spotted on Thailand’s NBTC certification website. The phones have also received TUV certification in Germany, EEC certification from the Economic Commission for Europe, and BIS certification in India. These certifications indicate that the phones are nearing launch and will soon be available for purchase.
The RedmiA2 is expected to feature a 6.52-inch HD+ resolution IPS LCD screen, 2GB of memory, and 32GB of storage, which is expandable. The phone is equipped with an 8-megapixel primary camera and an auxiliary AI camera and runs on Android 13 (Go version) out of the box. It has a massive 5000mAh battery and supports 10W charging via the micro USB port.
The MediaTek Helio G36 chip is the highlight of these smartphones. It uses a 12nm FinFET process and can support a 50-megapixel camera, 90Hz display, and MediaTek HyperEngine 2.0 Lite game engine. The octa-core Arm Cortex-A53 processor can deliver a peak performance of 2.2GHz, making it suitable for entry-level gaming smartphones.
