Sony Xperia 2 : Date, Prices, Specs, Review and Rumors

Sony usually carries out two major launches throughout the year in which it presents the new flagship of the brand. Proof of this is what was done this past year in which it launched the Xperia 1 model during the MWC celebration.

Subsequently, at the beginning of September, Sony launched the Xperia 5 (compact version of the Xperia 1) coinciding with the celebration of the IFA 2019, another of the great technological events of the year. Thus, it would not be surprising if the Xperia 2 was presented next February in the framework of the MWC 2020 celebration.

The Xperia 1 is currently for sale at a recommended price of $1000 and everything suggests that the new Xperia 2 will remain in this price range, although it may vary depending on the configuration. It is also likely that the mid-range Xperia 20, the successor to the Xperia 10, will be released alongside the Xperia 2.

Interestingly, and unlike what happens with other mobile phones of the competition, there is not much leakage about what the new Sony Xperia 2 could bring us. In early summer, Pocket Now reported on the numbering of j8210 and j8010 that showed some news about the j8110, which corresponds to the current Xperia 1.

Specifically and according to reports, both phones would have in common the connectivity section with the 5G connection support. In terms of screen sizes, the j8210 would come with a Full-HD of 1920 x 1080 pixels, while the j8010 would have a 4K panel and a resolution of 3840 x 1644 pixels, coinciding with the values of the Xperia 1.

Also on the web and in @OnLeaks, we have been able to see certain renderings of the terminals in association with CashKaro, which have been used to illustrate this article. Since then, new animations have appeared in various Twitter accounts.

The sources also point out that the Xperia 2 would retain the triple-lens camera assembly, but moving it to a new position that would be located in the upper left, reducing the screen size from 6.5 to 6.1 inches.

This would leave us a terminal with a reduced frame and dimensions of only 158 x 68 x 8.3 mm, about 9 mm shorter than what is currently the Xperia 1. This elongated screen can be very useful when used vertically since it allows you to use two apps at the same time.

It seems clear that the elongated design will not be liked by everyone, but Sony recognizes here that it cannot make phones that please everyone since it chooses to offer a differentiating experience in front of its competitors.
