Just like my schedule, last night Microsoft introduced the new Surface Pro 6. While it looks similar to the previous generation, but with its built-in hardware, it is significantly upgraded.
Perhaps the most important upgrade details belong to the processor of the device. The latest version of the Surface Pro can support up to four cores. In particular, the entry-level model will be shipped with the eighth generation Intel Core i5 processor, but if customers want, they can upgrade to the i7 chip.
According to Panos Panay, director of the company’s hardware division, the new device is 65% more powerful than the Surface Pro 5 of 2017.
But whatever the processor, the new Surface Pro comes with an improved cooling system. A combined processor and new heat dissipation together to increase 67% in performance compared to the previous generation and extend the battery life up to 13.5 hours.
In addition, the technical datasheet shows that you can choose between 8GB of RAM or 16GB of RAM. In addition, while the basic model is equipped with 128GB of memory, this capacity can be increased to 1TB SSD depending on customer choice.
As mentioned above, the Surface Pro 6’s exterior design is almost unchanged, retaining the hinge structure as well as its branded aluminum case. However, Microsoft has significantly upgraded its 12.3-inch PixelSense screen – which now has the highest contrast ever compared to previous generation Surface Pro tablets. Another detail is that the company has an 8MP autofocus camera, which is designed for video chatting and logging in with Windows Hello.
Microsoft says you can order Surface Pro 6 today and deliveries will begin Oct. 16. As previously reported leaks, the device has new colors such as Matte Black, next to the usual Platinum White.
Finally, the price of Surface Pro 6. Intel Core i5 models will start at $899. As usual, the keyboard will be an optional accessory that comes with the product, which costs $129 and comes in Black, Burgundy, Cobalt, and Platinum.
