Google has already released several developer previews of Android 12, with the official version coming soon. According to XDA, Google may be lying about the next version of Android.
According to the newly leaked documents, the next version of Android is likely to be a minor update to Android 12, which is expected to be released in a few weeks and is called Android 12.1.
Google has released the fifth developer preview of Android 12, the final beta ahead of the steady update. Prior to release, Google advised developers to update their apps for API Level 31, the framework API provided by Android 12. The previous Android 11 API level was 30, and the previous Android 10 API level was 29.
In general, each new API level is accompanied by a major update to the Android version number, with the only exception being API Level 20, which corresponds to the wearable device-specific Android 4.4 KitKat version. Therefore, if we find that Google has raised the API level, it’s a good bet that the version number will also be + 1.
However, XDA found some evidence in AOSP Gerrit that API Level 32 corresponds to Android 12 “SC-V2” rather than Android 13 T.
In the latest code change, Google changed the API level first provided by the new NDK API from 32 to 33 due to “no NDK API-v2-dev currently planned in SC.” This indicates that API level 33 corresponds to Android 13 T and is two API levels higher than the upcoming Android 12 release (API level 31).
The word “SC” in “SC-V2” most likely refers to “Snow Cone”, meaning that Google will be releasing a minor update between Android 12 and Android 13, most likely Android 12.1, or possibly the same version number, I’m just going to raise the API level.

Igeekphone has learned that Google hasn’t released a decimal update since Android 8.1 Oreo in 2017. If Google is indeed working on Android 12.1, it is likely to ship with the Pixel 6 series of phones.
