Igeekphone January 29th: iPhone 18 Pro will be officially unveiled this autumn. According to leaks, the iPhone 18 Pro series will be equipped with a variable aperture lens, which can more precisely control the amount of light entering and the depth of field. Currently, Apple has already made prototypes.
Previously, analyst Guo Mingzheng disclosed that the assembly equipment for the variable aperture blades of the iPhone 18 Pro series was provided by BE Semiconductor, which is a semiconductor equipment company from the Netherlands.
Not only that, the variable aperture lenses of iPhone 18 Pro series are provided by two suppliers, Sunny Optical and TaiLeung Light. Among them,TaiLeung Light is a first-tier supplier while Sunny Optical is a second-tier supplier.
Currently, most mainstream mobile phone brands have experimented with the variable aperture solution. The representative brand is Huawei. Some models of the Mate and nova series under Huawei support variable aperture. For example, the Huawei Nova 13 Pro supports ten levels of physical variable aperture from F1.4 to F4.0, which can adapt to various shooting scenarios.
In low-light and night scenes, it intelligently adjusts to the maximum aperture of F1.4 to reveal the details in the dark areas and retain the clear outlines of the night scene light spots. When taking group photos of more than three people, it automatically adjusts to F4.0, with the extended depth of field making both distant and nearby people in the photo come into focus.
In addition to supporting variable apertures, Apple is also evaluating teleconverter lenses, which is an external lens solution that has emerged in the Android ecosystem in recent years.
Take the vivo X300 series as an example. vivo has specially developed a Zeiss 2.35x telephoto zoom lens for it, which can increase the focal length of the telephoto lens to 200mm. In scenarios such as concerts and travel photography, it can achieve extremely powerful telephoto capabilities, capturing more details of the scene.
If iPhone could be equipped with an extender lens, it would significantly enhance the telephoto capability of the Apple phone.
