After just 6 months after the release of the gaming smartphone Black Shark, the company Xiaomi introduced its updated version of the Black Shark Helo. The design of the novelty as a whole repeats the main decisions of its predecessor, however, technical improvements are still in the first place.
For example, a 5.99-inch IPS panel with a resolution of 2160 × 1080 pixels replaced the 6.01-inch AMOLED matrix (18: 9, 402 PPI, 430 nits) with the same resolution and HDR support. The upper and lower parts of the border of the screen have already become (not least due to the refusal of the hardware Home button), while the developers have integrated a pair of front stereo speakers there, not forgetting about the front camera (20M 1.0µm f / 2.2).
From the side of the rear panel, the design of the novelty has become less fanciful, which definitely benefited him. There is a flash vertically in the middle of the body, a pair of lenses of the main camera (20MP 1.0µm f / 1.75 + 12 MP 1.25 µm f / 1.75) and a fingerprint reader.
The rear panel is now predominantly made of glass and partly of aluminum, as well as the sides of the case. The logo and a pair of stripes on the sides of the case are illuminated using an LED system. The case dimensions are 160 × 75.25 × 8.7 mm, weight – 190 grams.
The same powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor with eight Kryo 385 cores with an operating frequency of up to 2.8 GHz and Adreno 630 graphics is used as a hardware platform. To provide even more efficient cooling, the developers integrated two heat pipes into the case at once. The battery remains the same, its capacity is 4000 mAh, it is charged through the USB Type-C connector.
But over the memory, engineers have worked more closely. The first Black Shark was offered in versions with 6GB and 8GB of RAM and storage of 64GB and 128GB. New Black Shark Helo will be available in three versions: 6GB / 128GB, 8GB / 128GB and a special Sports Edition in the configuration of 10GB / 256GB. According to Xiaomi, this is the first commercial smartphone in the world, which has such a large amount of operational and permanent memory.
Note that the new product supports new gamepads that are attached to the short sidewalls of the case, while the 6GB / 128GB and 8GB / 128GB versions come with one such removable gamepad, and the top 10GB / 256GB comes with a pair of gamepads. Also presented were new cases and other accessories compatible with the updated model. The Black Shark Helo smartphone runs MIUI 10, supports 4G LTE, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS and a variety of proprietary modes and applications.
At the moment, the Black Shark Helo is available exclusively in China, a global announcement will occur a little later. Version 6GB / 128GB was estimated at $460, 8GB / 128GB – at $500. The most expensive option will be available no earlier than December 12, it will pull on $600.
