Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has patented its double-folding display design that was shown off back in January last year. And today, a leakster said that the Xiaomi folding phone will be released in 2021.
As early as January 2019, Lin Bin, co-founder and vice-chairman of Xiaomi Group, took the lead in showing the folding phone prototype, which adopted a dual-folding scheme. This symmetrical dual-folding form perfectly combined the experience of tablets and smartphones.

Lin Bin said that our dual-folding phone has overcome a series of technical problems such as flexible folding screen technology, four-wheel-drive folding hinge technology, flexible cover technology, and MIUI adaptation. This should be the world’s first dual-folding phone.
Unfortunately, this folding phone has not been mass-produced for commercial use. The industry expects Xiaomi to launch its own mass-produced commercial folding phone.
At present, Samsung, Huawei, Motorola, and other brands have mass-produced their folding phones on the market. As a first-line mobile phone brand, Xiaomi will naturally not fall behind, and folding phones should be available in 2021.
It is worth mentioning that the current price of folding phones is generally more than 10,000 yuan (about $1461). As the main cost-effective Xiaomi, the price of its folding phones may be less, which is worth looking forward to.
