Samsung‘s new foldable smartphone is coming, the Galaxy Z Flip. Unlike the Galaxy Fold, launched last year, the Z Flip brings a more conventional design: it folds horizontally and looks like a flip phone like those of the past decade.
Today, WinFuture published the specifications, price and renders “official” of the Z Flip, which will be a common smartphone when in use but is indicated for those who want a smaller and more compact device when their screen is closed.
With powerful hardware, the Galaxy Z Flip will feature a 6.7-inch folding Infinity-Flex screen. Folded, the Galaxy Z Flip has dimensions of 87.4 x 73.6 x 15.4 mm, while open it is 167.9 x 74.6 x 6.9 mm, with a weight of 183 grams. The fingerprint reader is physical and is located on the side of the smartphone, and there is no presence of a 3.5 mm headphone jack.
The 6.7-inch screen has a 22: 8 aspect ratio, with a resolution of 2636 x 1080 pixels, perforated to accommodate the front camera. It is also protected by an ultra-thin glass, more durable than the plastic that protects the screen of the Galaxy Fold.
When folded, the Galaxy Z Flip shows a 1.06-inch screen of Super AMOLED technology, protected by Gorilla Glass 6 and with a resolution of 300 x 116 pixels. Its Always-on mode can show the time and incoming notifications without opening the phone. Inside, we will find a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ processor along with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of non-expandable storage.
As for the main camera arrangement of the Galaxy Z Flip, it will have a primary lens of 12MP and aperture f / 1.8, plus a 12MP lens of a wide angle of 123 degrees and aperture f / 2.2. It will also have a 10MP front camera, which will support autofocus and an f / 2.4 aperture.
The battery will be divided into two adding 3300mAh of total capacity, with support for fast charging by 15W cable and 9W wireless charging. The lack of 5G connectivity in the Galaxy Z Flip for this price segment is striking. Android 10 with One UI 2.0 will be in the game.
The report confirms that the Galaxy Z Flip will be launched in Europe on February 14 for about 1500 euros (about $1650) and will reach other regions – at least, the United States. In addition to the colors shown by the renderings in purple and black, the Galaxy Z Flip would arrive in gold and silver colors.
