Design
The “wave design” of the Shanling M7 is reflected in the elegant design of the titanium-colored aluminum housing. The digital music player is a real hand flatterer. The “wave design” is expressed in the wavy designed outer surfaces and is not just a marketing thing, because the surface design also enlarges the outer surface and thus contributes to improved heat dissipation. Due to the high computing power, the M7 gets quite warm very quickly and warms cold hands quite well in winter, but this is rather undesirable in summer.
The case, which is relatively narrow at 20 mm, and the weight of a good 300 grams make it just about suitable for a vest pocket. The mechanical keys are easy to use. The remaining functions can be operated via the razor-sharp 5-inch touchscreen. The finely running volume control is located at the top right side, the two headphone jacks are located on the top, and the USB-C socket is on the bottom. The menu and the operation are almost self-explanatory; you quickly find your way around the service.
Display
The Shanling M7’s display uses a 5-inch SHARP liquid crystal display. This display has excellent features such as a high-definition display of 1920 x 1080 pixels, vivid colors, and a wide viewing angle.
Hardware
The Hardware of the new DAP from Shanling is an 8-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 CPU with Adreno 610 GPU and the corresponding platform, which is supported by 6 GB RAM and a further 128 GB ROM, whereby the memory can be expanded using micro SD cards.
Powerful Output
Shanling M7 provides a powerful output level of up to 400mW* for single-ended output and up to 900mW* for balanced output. From input-sensitive IEMs to headphones that require strong energy, by setting the appropriate gain from the three-stage gain setting, it can be matched with a wide range of equipment.
Android 10
The Shanling M7 runs on the user-customizable “Android 10” OS, so you can access various contents according to your needs. In addition, Shanling’s unique AGLO technology is built in, so there is no sound quality degradation due to Android OS sample rate conversion. Battery
The battery used in the M7 has a capacity of 7000mAh but is required because of the power-hungry processors. We, therefore, tested the battery life, the settings were: Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled, volume 60%, gain: medium, brightness: 87%. In this realistic test, the battery lasted 7 hours and 30 minutes – and after 2 hours and 30 minutes, it was fully charged again.

Verdict and Buy
This “lightweight” flagship Shanling M7 remains the same as the M9 in terms of appearance, materials, and functions, and the core specifications are still at the flagship level. In terms of sound tuning, it can be seen that there is a lot of effort. It has a warm, moist, and durable sound. The M7 is a real surprise at this price, and I can’t seem to find a better choice for a while.
