Xiaomi has officially begun teasing the upcoming REDMI Note 17 series ahead of its launch, with company executives revealing key specifications of the standard model. The new smartphone is set to offer an unusually large display and one of the biggest batteries available in its price segment.
According to information shared on July 10, Lu Weibing—Partner and President of Xiaomi Group, President of the Smartphone Department, and General Manager of the Xiaomi brand—posted several details about the upcoming device on Weibo.

The executive confirmed that the standard REDMI Note 17 will feature Redmi’s largest-ever 7-inch OLED display. The panel supports a 120Hz refresh rate for smoother scrolling and gaming, delivers up to 1,200 nits of global brightness, and incorporates Xiaomi’s Qingshan (Green Mountain) Eye Protection technology, which is designed to reduce eye strain during prolonged use.
One of the headline features of the device is its 8,000mAh battery, making it one of the very few smartphones in its price category to offer such a high battery capacity. Combined with the power-efficient OLED display, the large battery is expected to provide extended endurance for everyday use, including video streaming, gaming, and productivity.

In addition to revealing the core specifications, Lu Weibing also unveiled a new “Meteor Purple” color option for the REDMI Note 17, showcasing a fresh design choice for the upcoming lineup.
The REDMI Note 17 series is scheduled to make its official debut at 19:00 (China Standard Time) on July 14, when Xiaomi is expected to announce the complete lineup, including additional models, pricing, availability, and detailed hardware specifications.

With its combination of a massive 7-inch OLED display, high-refresh-rate panel, eye protection features, and an exceptionally large 8,000mAh battery, the REDMI Note 17 aims to strengthen Redmi’s position in the highly competitive mid-range smartphone market. More details are expected to be revealed during the official launch event.
