Xiaomi is known for releasing new version and updates of its MIUI skin quite frequently. However, it is quite slow at rolling out the latest version of Android. Last year in November, the company started the roll out of MIUI 9 based on Android Nougat. A couple of handsets including the Xiaomi Mi 6 were treated with it. Today, the company has silently pushed out the latest edition of MIUI 9.2.3.0. The good news is that it is based on Android 8.0 Oreo.
The arrival of the new software update for Mi 6 has been made on the official MIUI forum site. The entire changelog listed below can be also found over there. By this the MI 6 becomes the first phone from Xiaomi to get Android Oreo. There is no information on the names of the other phones that will be treated with MIUI 9.2.3.0 flavored Android 8.0 Oreo. However, it is likely that Xiaomi’s other flagship of 2017, the Mi MIX 2 will also receive the new software update. It may also arrive to the Mi Note 3.
Xiaomi is slated to launch the Mi MIX 2S on March 27. It may arrive with MIUI 9 that is based on Nougat, but it may be soon treated with MIUI 9 + Android 8.0 Oreo. The Xiaomi Mi 7 that is speculated to launch in June may come pre-installed with it.
