Igeekphone News, April 25th: Source Sonny Dickson posted a tweet on the X platform yesterday (April 24th), sharing a set of pictures showing the model photos of the iPhone 17 series and hinting that the iPhone 17 Air will have no physical SIM card. Fully shift to eSIM cards.
The source wrote in the tweet: “The thinness and lightness of the iPhone 17 Air are simply amazing.” Igeekphone Note: Previous reports indicated that the thickness of the iPhone 17 Air was 5.5 millimeters. In contrast, the iPhone 16 was 7.8 millimeters, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max reached 8.25 millimeters.
Apart from the thickness, the model photos exposed this time also hint at other design adjustments, among which the most notable one is the eSIM card. Although eSIM technology has been fully adopted in iphones in the US market, other regions around the world still rely on physical cards.
Among the models exposed this time, except for the iPhone 17 Air, the standard version of the iPhone 17 (or possibly the iPhone 17 Pro) does not have a physical SIM card. This change may indicate that Apple will implement eSIM globally.
