Awesome Video Games For Laptops And Low-End PCs

Brady CottonBy Brady CottonMay 25, 2021
Facebook Twitter Pinterest LinkedIn Tumblr Email

Lots of us like to play video games. In fact, in the US, it’s estimated that over 66% of people class themselves as gamers, whether regularly or semi-regularly. This number has shot up in the last decade, as video games become more and more of a regular household fixture.

Of course, you can go all out and buy a brand new ninth-gen console for a few hundred bucks, then go buy a handful of games and spend another hundred. But, that’s not as appealing to a part-time or casual gamer. This is why today, we are going to be discussing the best video games for laptops and low-end PCs. This article is for the casual gamer who still wants to play the best possible games. If that sounds like you, then read on for the most awesome video games for laptops and low-end PCs.

    “What Do You Mean, Low-End?”

Don’t worry, it’s not an insult! By low-end we simply mean your average home PC. Nowadays, there are PCs designed with gaming in mind. They have so much power and the most advanced graphics cards, designed to take on the most realistic, expansive and challenging games ever created. These are fantastic, but they cost thousands and thousands of dollars.

Instead, most of us have a PC or laptop designed for general use. We want to spend some time doing our work, browsing the net, and playing games. So, we buy a decent all-rounder. However, these obviously then do not contain the immense power of specifically-designed gaming PCs. So, when we say “low-end” we are simply speaking to the casual gamer with a laptop that might be a few years old. No crazy graphics card? No problem!

    The Sims

One of the greatest multi-platform games ever, The Sims is suitable for play on all sorts of devices. It’s an amazing game where you can choose your own adventure, build your dream home and become whoever you want! As a bonus for those living in Spanish-speaking countries, you can even descargar los sims 4 gratis – that’s right, free, which makes it even more appealing to give a try. You don’t need much computing power to create your dream world in The Sims.

If you’ve never played The Sims before, we’ll briefly explain. The Sims creates a virtual world, in which you can create virtual people: Sims! You can help your Sims grow by micromanaging every part of their life from decisions on what career to pursue down to when they take a shower. Or, you can sit back and watch your Sims as they work their way through life and figure everything out for themselves. The choice is yours, you can design their home or let them do it all themselves. It has been popular for many years and we think it will continue that way, as it is super addictive. If your PC is lacking a good game, give The Sims a try first.

    World Of Warcraft (Classic)

World of Warcraft (WoW) Classic is a remake of 2004’s original WoW game. It has been developed to recreate the original, non-expanded version of the game. This means it is far lower powered than the multi-expansion versions of WoW operating today. You can run this game on a much lower-end PC than you’d need for the huge newer versions of the game.

In WoW, one of the original MMORPG games, you create your avatar and explore the expansive open-source world. During your free-play experience, you can take on quests, fight various enemies, and join friends in battle. It has been hailed as one of the greatest video games of all time, so if you’re looking for something new to try that comes highly recommended, WoW could be the game for you.

    SimCity

Now, we’ve discussed The Sims, but let’s take it all the way back to 1989. In that year, SimCity was first released. A game where you don’t just take on the lives of a few Sims, but instead you try to build a metropolis of millions of Sims. The game hasn’t been updated since 2013’s version and some of the classics are available online to play. Both of these options mean you can play SimCity on basically any modern PC or laptop.

An utterly addictive game where you take on the role of Mayor of your own city. Except, in the beginning, there is no city to be seen. Instead, you have to build your own city from an empty plot of land on a map. You can choose maps that are similar to real-life places such as London or Manhattan, or create a totally random map. Build your city by developing agriculture, industrial, and residential areas, listen to your Sims needs, and earn enough money through taxation and events to keep your city ticking over. Watch out for natural disasters and Sim protests. If you’re really unlucky, you might receive a visit from Godzilla or some aliens.

    Among Us

Among Us is the newest game on this list, having been released in 2018 and achieving popularity in 2020. It has been developed recently to be fast and addictive, fun and exciting. But, it also takes up only a tiny amount of CPU power, RAM, or any other resources. It can be played on the most basic of PCs, as well as iOS and Android devices.

In this game, you will play online with a group of strangers. Each of you has a similar-looking avatar – though they are customizable. At the start of each round, you will be dropped into one of four maps. There are a set of tasks to be done on each map, but there’s a twist. One to three of the players will be secretly assigned the role of “The Impostor.” These players’ job is to act like they are “Crewmates” while sneakily killing off the other players. Who amongst us is an impostor? That’s what you must find out!

These are our four favourite low-end PC games. Perfect for a bit of part-time gaming or a more intense session, none will break your laptop or make it overheat. Hopefully, these games will give you a few hours of fun each and help you enjoy some gaming on your non-gaming specific machines!
