To the surprise of many, it is very likely that Google‘s first 5G mobile is a “cheap” Pixel. At least that’s what the XDA-Developers portal points out, which claims to have had access to new information about the Google Pixel 4a that would arrive in the middle of this year.
In the opinion, although recent rumors pointed to Google could launch only a variant of the Pixel 4a series, the truth is that it seems that, finally, the new series of phones Pixel affordable would consist of, at the least, two telephones of those who know more details today.
According to information shared by XDA, we know that Google’s new devices are known internally by their code names, Bramble and Sunfish – once again, Google is committed to aquatic animals.
From the first, it has been discovered that it is a device based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 platform, the first of the company to have an integrated 5G modem. If so, it is possible to deduce that at least one of the future Pixel 4a would have 5G connectivity. Another known fact about this device is that Google would be testing it using software based on Android 10, and another based on Android 11.
For its part, Sunfish would be a somewhat lower model than Bramble by having inside the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730, a chip somewhat less recent than the 765, but also intended for the mid-premium range.
Beyond that, evidence has been discovered about a third device under the codename Redfin, with the same Snapdragon 765 5G processor of the most cutting-edge model in this series. However, it is known that this device would be built by FIH Mobile, a subsidiary of Foxconn. So far, yes, no more clues have been found that refer to this model.
This is, for now, everything new that has been discovered about Google Pixel 4a. Given that this is not the first time that data is leaked on the new phones, I fear that we will not have to wait much longer until we continue to know details about the new affordable Google phones.
