How secure is Incognito Mode on Chrome

Brady CottonBy Brady CottonJune 3, 2020

Can you name the world’s most popular browser? Your answer probably is Google Chrome. It’s fast, efficient, and easy to use. It also stores a lot of information about you every time you visit a website. Is there a way to become private, though?

A little food for your thoughts, Incognito Mode on Google Chrome, doesn’t make your web activity entirely private and secure. There are other ways to achieve privacy like a VPN, but more about them later.

Firstly, let’s find out how secure Incognito Mode on Chrome is and why it doesn’t make you as incognito as you’d like.

Is Incognito Mode entirely private and secure?

Incognito Mode on Google Chrome allows you to browse things without saving your activity, including passwords and browsing history. It also prevents cookies from saving on your computer, which means that websites won’t be able to send you personalized ads.

So, in theory, it makes you invisible. Well, not really.

It offers you some privacy for sure, but you won’t be entirely anonymous. Even when you open Incognito Mode, it tells you that your activity can still be visible to websites you visit. Your online activity will be apparent to your school or employer and for your internet service provider.

So why is Incognito Mode called the way it is? It makes your device activity private, so that the person you’re sharing your computer with, won’t be able to see what you were doing. Your IP won’t be hidden, though.

So, now you know Incognito Mode isn’t private. But is it secure? The answer is the same. No, it’s not.

Malware can still get through, and Incognito Mode doesn’t change anything in that matter. Viruses will be able to infect your device as well. So, if you’ve heard from someone that this mode increases security, don’t believe it.

Okay, but does Incognito Mode have any advantages at all? This time, the answer is yes.

Incognito Mode on Chrome is a great way to browse your social media without third-party services following your every step. It doesn’t save your passwords and your history. So, if you don’t want to share secrets with people who may use any of your devices, Incognito Mode will make sure of that.

However, if you want to achieve full privacy and security, there’s something that will help you. It even has a name. It’s called a VPN.

    Get a VPN

Virtual Private Network, also known as VPN, is probably the best way to gain full privacy and security while browsing the web. How’s that possible, you may ask? VPN creates a private and secure tunnel that hides all your data, information, and browsing activity.

This tunnel prevents hackers from attacking your device, as they won’t be able to decrypt data that VPN encrypts for you. By installing a VPN, you’ll make sure that malware won’t infect the device as well.

VPN also makes your online activity entirely private by hiding your IP address and your location. Not even your internet provider will be able to see what you’re browsing. Why? Because your device acquires the IP address of the VPN server, it uses.

So, is there any downside to a VPN? It’s not free, but you can’t even call that a real disadvantage because the price of a VPN is pretty low. To find the best VPN provider for you, visit https://www.vpncompare.co.uk/vyprvpn-review/, where you’ll be able to compare and pick the one that suits you best.

Also, if you want to gain ultimate security and privacy, you can combine VPN with Incognito Mode. You’ll be able to hide your online activity from everyone, including your internet provider and hackers.

The list of VPN’s advantages is too long for this article, and that should be one of the reasons why you should consider getting one. It’s just like Tina Turner sang, simply the best.

    Summary

In conclusion, if you want to achieve full online privacy and security, Incognito Mode is not the thing you should be looking for when it comes to defending yourself. It may hide your activity from a person that you share your device with, but you’ll still be visible for many unwanted eyes.

Remember that Incognito Mode won’t protect you from malware either. Hackers will still be able to infect your computer and steal your data without any effort whatsoever. Fortunately for you, there’s a way you can defend your online privacy and security, and it’s called VPN.

VPN will make sure you’re protected from every perspective. It will hide your activity from your internet provider or hackers, and it will also defend your device from malware and viruses.

And if you want to build a wall that nobody’s going to breach, consider combining Incognito Mode with VPN. Your online defense will be like the Pokemon’s final form.
