Igeekphone reported on May 8th that Apple plans to launch the brand-new iPhone 17 Air in September 2025. This model will replace the Plus version and become a new member of Apple’s mobile phone product line.
In terms of screen configuration, the iPhone 17 Air adopts a 6.6-inch OLED screen, supporting a 120Hz high refresh rate and all-weather display functions. Compared with the 6.7-inch, 60Hz screen of the iPhone 16 Plus, it offers a smoother visual experience and more abundant functions.
In terms of performance, the iPhone 17 Air will be equipped with the brand-new A19 chip, and the memory will be increased to 12GB RAM, far exceeding the A18 chip and 8GB memory of the Plus version. It can easily handle various complex tasks and provide strong support for large model applications.
In terms of the imaging system, the iPhone 17 Air has a 48-megapixel main rear camera and a 24-megapixel front camera. Although it is a single camera, the specifications of the main camera are outstanding. However, in terms of the flexibility of scene switching during shooting, it is slightly inferior to the dual cameras of the Plus version.
The network module is its highlight. It is equipped with Apple’s self-developed C1 baseband and Wi-Fi chip, which is consistent with the iPhone 16e. This is an important progress for Apple on the road of self-developing core hardware.
In terms of battery life, affected by the slim body, its battery capacity is expected to be less than 4674mAh of the iPhone 16 Plus, but the fast charging power has been increased to 35W.
Furthermore, the iPhone 17 Air only supports eSIM and eliminates the physical SIM card slot.
