Yesterday Meizu finally released its first flagship in 2018, Meizu 15 Plus smartphone, although most smartphones adopt bezelless screen, Meizu 15 series doesn’t follow, because it uses 16:9 aspect ratio instead of 18:9 or 19:9. So is Meizu 15 plus lose to other phones with 18:9 or 19:9 ones?
In fact, Meizu 15 has considerable screen to body ratio, up to 80.5%, and Meizu 15 plus even gets 81.5%, which is at similar level to iphone X, Mate 10 pro, Nubia Z17S and Smartisan Pro 2.
In fact, Meizu 15 and 15 Plus are the narrowest non-curved display, the former one only has 1.955mm bezel width, the latter has 2.09mm , even narrower than Huawei Mate 10 with 2.16mm and Nubia Z17S with 2.29mm.
Meizu 15 series three products don’t have same specs, Meizu 15 plus has 5.95 inch 2560X1440（2K）Samsung OLED screen, Meizu 15 has 5.46 inch 1920X1080（FHD）OLED screen, and Meizu M15 also has 5.46 inch 1920X1080 LTPS LCD screen.
Meizu 15 plus and 15 both have good display effect, especially the former one, up to 2K resolution and 500 ppi. They uses AOD (Always On Display) OLED display, both can offer similar showing effect to that of Samsung, like Standard, picture, colorful mode, auto-suitable.
Meizu 15 and 15 plus have hidden their infrared remote control, receiver, light sensor, and the receiver is contained by the top gap of the glass panel. The forehead only shows the front camera in the middle, very simple and beautiful. In addition, their receiver can be used speaker, couple with speaker at the bottom, the playing effect is good, similar to the level of that of iPhone X.

They both continue to use little circle to support fingerprint scanner, which can recognize very fast, up to 0.08 as fast as possible.
In addition, Meizu has also added force touch for three products and Face ID.
Meizu 15 and 15 Plus both can support stainless steel strength, they have adopted brushed glass metal, which is similar to that of iPhone 7 series back material.Besides, Meizu 15 plus back cover has two antenna line to use 3D rotated engraved craftsmanship, looking lucky.
They have one more feature that you can not be seen, but when you use it, you will feel, it is Vibration. Since iPhone 7 adding Taptic Engine, iphone vibration experience is the top one, and Meizu 15 plus can compete wtih iPhone in this feature. Because it uses a touched module, called mEngine.
Camera
Although Meizu Pro 6S, Pro 6 Plus and other products have reached the top line in android phones, in general, Camera is no the aspect that Meizu is good at, but this time, Meizu 15 and Meizu 15 plus have made big efforts in their camera.
In CMOS sensor, Meizu 15 and Meizu 15 Plus use Sony IMX380+IMX350 sensor, which is also used by Huawei P20. IMX380 Sensor will be the main camera of Meizu 15 and 15 Plus. Its sensor can reach 1/2.3 inch, compared with other phones with 1/2.55 inch sensor, the pixel is still 12MP, 1.55um, supporting PDAF, but it doesn’t have full pixel focus, they comes with laser focus, f/1.8, supporting four axis OIS.
As for second camera, although CMOS is same as that of Huawei P20, Meizu 15, 15 Plus don’t use Black/white dual rear camera, but common color design. Besides, Meizu 15, 15 plus can keep lossless zooming effect in three times focal length.
In algorithm, Meizu 15 and 15 Plus use HDR+ denoise algorithm from Arcsoft , its valid exposure will reach up to 1/4 seconds, which will help image quality under dim light.
Performance & Antutu
Meizu 15 Plus uses Samsung Exynos 8895, which uses the same processor as that of Galaxy S8/S8+/Note 8. Its CPU has four Cortex-A53 1.73GHz, and four Samsung M2 big core, up to 2.5GHz, Mali-G71 GPU.
Meizu 15 Plus has got 188,822 points in its Antutu test, couple with RAM 6GB and Flyme 7 OS, its performance will be not worse a lot than that of Xiaomi MI MIX 2S.
Battery
As for its battery, Meizu 15 Plus has 3,500mAh, Meizu 15 with 3,000mAh battery, both support 24W quick charge, according to test, Meizu 15 plus can charge 60% in half an hour under almost no power state.
Meizu 15 plus can support one day heavy use between iphone X and Huawei p20 pro.
Conclusion
Meizu 15 and Meizu 15 plus this time have not impressed us in their design, but also its processor, some exclusive features, we can see the real change for Meizu now, as for its price, Meizu 15 4GB+64GB version sells at 2,499 yuan, $400, 4GB+128GB at 2,799 yuan,$466, and Meizu 15 Plus 6GB+64GB version at 2,999 yuan, $500, and 6GB+128GB version at 3,299 yuan, $549 according to official announcement. So which one will you choose?
