Igeekphone News, April 18th: The official account of TED Talks posted a tweet on the X platform yesterday (April 17th), sharing a video that showed the situation of Google’s TED talk last week and demonstrated the prototype of Android XR smart glasses to the public live for the first time.
Google has previously showcased this device through several teaser videos and invited a few media outlets to try it out. The newly released video not only showcases the hardware but also reveals the AI technology capabilities it is equipped with.
During the demonstration, the host made multiple requests to the AI assistant Gemini, showcasing the intelligent interaction capabilities of the glasses. She first asked the title of the white book on the bookshelf behind her, and Gemini gave the answer quickly and accurately.
Then, she asked for help to find the lost hotel room card, and the AI successfully located the card’s position. Finally, she obtained navigation guidance through the built-in lens of her glasses, and the entire process was smooth and natural.
Although this is prototype hardware and software, its performance is impressive. The size of the glasses is similar to that of ordinary glasses. They are thinner and lighter than Meta’s Orion XR glasses and have an attractive design.
