Xiaomi has officially launched the MIX Fold 3 folding screen smartphone, keeping the starting price consistent with the previous generation at 8999 yuan.
The pricing options are as follows:
- The 12+256GB variant is priced at 8999 yuan ($1,238).
- The 16+512GB variant is priced at 9999 yuan ($1,375).
- The 16GB+1TB variant is priced at 10999 yuan ($1,515).
Under the hood, the phone features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor coupled with LPDDR5X memory and UFS 4.0 flash memory. It has an 1850mm² ultra-thin stainless steel VC vapor chamber and high-density graphite, offering a total heat dissipation area of 10943mm².
Moreover, the phone incorporates a 4800mAh Xiaomi surging battery that supports rapid 67W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. Lei Jun emphasized that the device’s performance is on par with the iPhone’s, positioning it as a leading contender among foldable screen phones.
On the display front, the device showcases an 8.03-inch internal screen with a resolution of 2160×1916. It’s based on Samsung’s Eco² OLED Plus panel with E6 luminescent material, boasting a local peak brightness of 2600nit. The screen also supports a dynamic 1-120Hz LTPO adaptive refresh rate and has been certified for Dolby Vision and HDR 10+ compatibility. It features dual light perception on both front and rear sides, UTG protective glass, and other selling points.
In addition, the XIaomi MIX Fold 3 features a 6.56-inch outer screen with a 2520×1080 resolution and a centered hole-punch design. This OLED screen offers a 120Hz refresh rate and shares the same high-quality features as the internal display.
Xiaomi introduces its self-developed keel shaft in this model, boasting 198 shaft parts that save 17% of space compared to the previous water drop shaft. When folded, the post has a thickness of 7.7mm. The device’s support structure employs 1800MPa super steel and carbon ceramic steel for a rotating system, allowing for free hovering between 45° and 135°. This mechanism has undergone TÜV Rheinland’s certification, ensuring reliability even after 500,000 folds.
In terms of imaging, the phone is equipped with a variety of sensors, including a 50MP primary camera, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 10MP portrait telephoto lens, and a 10MP periscope telephoto lens, all of which are backed by Leica certifications.
The XIaomi MIX Fold 3 is a 4800mAh dual-silicon carbon negative battery that supports 67W fast charging. It can be charged 100% within 43 minutes of folding and 40 minutes when unfolding. The included G1 power management chip and P2 fast charging chip ensure an impressive 1.34-day battery life for internal and external screens.
Furthermore, the device comes in three color options: Moon Shadow Black, Star Shine Gold, and a unique Dragon Scale Fiber version in black. It has dual 1115 speakers, three microphones, an X-axis linear motor, supports Dolby Atmos, Hi-Res dual certification, and USB 3.2 Gen 1. The MIUI FOLD system for large screens comes pre-installed on the phone.
