    Best Phones for Cybersecurity

Brady CottonBy Brady CottonMarch 31, 2021

Gone are the days when you had to talk to someone using a phone stuck to a wall and whose wire limited your movements. You also had to deal with the frustration of picking calls from people you could not blacklist because landlines did not offer such privileges. Now mobile phones have become our constant companions wherever we go, and as long as you have your cell phone, you are never alone.

The evolution of smartphones has granted us more impressive features. It can help you lock your front door front from wherever you are and provide you with directions. Smartphones have indeed given us the convenience we all need in our hectic lives, but they have also opened us up to the world of cybercrime.

If you have ever used your phone to pay for transactions when connected to public Wi-Fi, you have exposed yourself to hackers who can access your account login details. Since you can also read your emails from your phone, cybercriminals can launch phishing attacks to obtain personal information or install malware.

There are many cybersecurity threats that smartphones are vulnerable to, but you can protect yourself by getting a phone with rigorous mobile security measures. Check out these phones that enhance your cybersecurity.

    Bittium Tough Mobile 2C

It is hailed as the device; thus, if you need strict security protocols, you should go for it unless you mind paying a hefty price for it. It is among the most expensive smartphones, and it primarily targets businesses that do not want to compromise their security.

It has two operating systems: a hardened version of Android 9 and Bittium’s Secure OS with complete data separation. It also has a multi-layer security structure, information security features and software embedded in the source code. All these play a critical role in protecting the data stored in the device and any transferred from it. You also get a Yubiko 5 NFC security key for free upon purchase.

The phone has a hardware-based privacy mode that disables Bluetooth, cameras, microphones and decreases the accuracy of sensors with the touch of a button. Other security measures include next-generation tamper detection to prevent data theft and spying and a trusted boot with software and hardware integrity validation.

    Solarin from Sirin Labs

Solarin was released in 2016 with an eye-popping price tag of £9,500 before taxes which translates to about $16,000. For such an amount of money, the company boasts military-grade security. The phone is armed with a secure mode that must be activated by a special security switch at the handset’s back. Once activated, the phone can only communicate with Solarin phones through encrypted messages and calls as it disables Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.  As such, it can handle real-time voice data encryption.

Even when the security mode is deactivated, the phone is still secure. It uses 256-bit AES encryption to encrypt the chip-to-chip communication to prevent break-in attempts in the security hardware. It also has full disk encryption, fingerprint lock, regular security updates, remote lock and wipe and malware protection.

    Silent Circle Blackphone 2

Well, it doesn’t flaunt itself as being hack-proof, but it has put measures to protect your data.  Its main selling point is the phone’s security features. For instance, you can create an isolated secure area with the Spaces feature to cut off your data from other spaces. That way, if one app is compromised, it cannot pave the way for hackers to access others where your personal information is stored.

It ensures that your conversations are 100% private, and you don’t have to grant access to all apps requesting permission. The phone intercepts the app’s request and blocks access giving you the freedom to make informed decisions regarding data accessibility.

    KATIM

KATIM has been rated the most secure smartphone. Its security features include the SHIELD mode, which secures top security meetings, and the LOCK mode disables Bluetooth, sensors, microphones and the camera. It comes with a secure boot and an encrypted storage key that encrypts data and prevents eavesdropping.

It grants you the flexibility to lock and blacklist apps you don’t want running. The phone also has a remote management system to lock, wipe, activate and deactivate from a distance. KATIM has security certificates unique for that particular device. Therefore, you must have your crypto card to boot it up, and once removed, the device is unusable. The fact that these cybersecurity measures are available at the cost of around $800 appeals to many security-conscious customers.

Of course, your budget will determine the kind of smartphone you end up with, and you can browse the many available in the market on Igeekphone.com. You can shop and compare prices here before settling on a particular phone. By browsing the site, you can also find out all the information you need on tablets, accessories, drones and headsets, and other technological devices and stay updated on coupon deals available from leading retailers.
