    How Much Rebate on A 6KW Solar System in Victoria?

    Brady CottonBy Brady CottonApril 15, 2021
    Facebook Twitter Pinterest LinkedIn Tumblr Email

    The rebate program in Victoria is a way for the state to give residents a good reason to invest in solar energy.

    To answer the question, the rebate on a 6KW or any solar system depends on a number of factors, and the figure varies. If we were to do an estimate, the rebates would range between $1,880 and $2,225.

    However, the state rebates are constant regardless of the type of solar system you have.

    Are There Any Requirements For Getting A Solar System Rebate?

    Yes. There are a number of requirements that you are to meet to enjoy these discounts. These conditions are there to ensure that the whole process is safe and effective. Some of the requirements are;

    1. You have to be the legal owner of the home you want the solar system installed.
    2. The cumulative household income must not exceed $180,000. You must show proof of this.
    3. There should not be any applications of any state-level rebate done before under the Victoria Solar Homes program.
    4. To get a solar system rebate, your property’s value must not exceed $3 million in value.
    5. You should have an existing solar system that is installed. The system should have at least 5KW yield capacity.
    6. The batteries that you intend to use should be among the approved types.
    7. Your home should be located in the specified postcodes.
    8. You need to obtain pre-approval from the Distributed Network Service Provider for you to claim the rebate.
    9. Also, you have to agree to receive information from the Distributed Network Service Provider. By doing this, you agree to have a free safety inspection or audit if they allow the rebate.

    By complying with all the specified requirements, you are eligible to apply for the solar system rebate in Victoria.

    How Can I Claim My Solar System Rebate In Victoria?

    There are different ways of claiming that are easy to conduct. You can either make applications through a company or do them yourself to get discounts over 50% of the total cost.

    The first method to consider is applying through a company. For this process;

    You have to complete the required eligibility application and submit it for approval.

    The next thing is you get an eligibility number. This is the time to find an authorized dealer and get the solar quote from them. Ensure that this dealer gets recognition from the Clean Energy Authority at the federal level.

    To get the eligibility number, you have to wait after making your quote. This number is an indication that you can go ahead with the installation.

    After that, you pay a down payment to make the purchase of the solar system from the company.

    As you make these payments, remember to ask for the STC rebates to get a discount from the sale.

    The vendor then factors in the rebate into the final price; installation is also included.

    Another way of claiming these rebates is by visiting the official online webpage.  Here you find a detailed list of the required documents.

    Read through all the requirements and regulations. Ensure that you apply at the right time to get your rebate.

    Can I Get A Rebate On A Solar Hot Water System In Victoria?

    You are eligible to get rebates on your hot water system, depending on its category. All applicants have to meet the following requirements;

    1. He or she has to be the legal owner of the property.
    2. The total household income must not exceed $180,000. The applicant has to provide proof for this in the form of documentation from the tax office.
    3. You should not have applied for another rebate.
    4. The property on which you want the system installed should have a value of not more than $3 million.
    5. If you apply for a rebate for replaced water systems, ensure that it is not three years older from the purchase date.
    6. The final requirement is that the property you want the system installed should not be new.

    When Does This Solar System Rebate Project End In Victoria?

    Currently, there are no specific dates to when the solar system rebate project is to end. The state is still releasing updated rebates. We hope that these rebates remain active as they are of great help to rental properties and other NGOs.

    What is clear is that these rebates keep on decreasing as years go by. Therefore it is inevitable that they will come to an end. With that in mind, please take advantage of this opportunity for as long as it lasts.

    Important Points to Note on the Solar System Rebate Project in Victoria

    Note that the rebates given are deductions from the total bill of the whole installation process. Therefore, you are not entitled to claim them as monetary disbursals from the state. Do not expect any cheques or money refunds afterward.

    If you want to fasten the whole process, it is best to consult one of the registered solar companies and request them to take care of the entire installation. You can get discounts of even 50%.

    There is a difference between the Victorian state rebates and the federal level rebates. You can combine the two discounts to cut the total cost significantly.

    Cities in Victoria, such as Melbourne, offer other benefits to their residents, such as no interest solar loans, solar rental rebates, solar battery rebates, and many other incentives.

    Make sure that you deal with the authorized companies only. In case you have no idea about these companies, visit the Solar Victoria website to get the full detailed list.
