The patent was filed in September 2018, but only now has it been approved by WIPO (World Intellectual Property Office). This is Vivo ‘s new project for a smartphone with a dual-display design, one positioned on the back of the phone, which represents an evolution of the previously launched model, the Vivo NEX Dual Display.
The use of a second screen allows you to take selfies with the main camera, simply by turning the phone so that it becomes a full screen, without notches, holes or rotating mechanisms, or extraction for the front camera. The presence of LEDs, which can demonstrate more colors and light effects, allows you to view the arrival of notifications and create nice effects when taking selfie photos.
The new patent discovered by LetsGoDigital contains 37 sketches of two new Dual Display smartphone designs. The two projects have small differences.
The Model A has an LED O-ring on the back similar to Vivo’s original NEX Dual Display, but this time it is decentralized. The O-ring LED acts as a flash for selfies and also as an RGB LED indicator.
The ring of the Model B is also illuminated by an LED, but has a different shape, oval, and is positioned horizontally in the upper right corner of the secondary screen.
In both models there are two buttons on the left: probably it is the power button and the volume rocker. On the other side, the right one, a barbell is visible (could this be the volume? Or will it be used for other purposes?). The possible presence of an in-display fingerprint reader .
Last month, Vivo Mobile Communications registered a trademark with the EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office) for the Vivo X name, and a logo was also registered. There is, therefore, a good chance that one of the two models, or perhaps both, is already in the works and that it will soon arrive here too.
