It was previously reported that the iPhone 15 will use the A17 chip, and the A17 chip will be manufactured using TSMC’s 3nm process. Samsung also announced mass production of the 3nm process in the first half of last year.
The advantage of 3nm processors over current 4nm and 5nm processors is that they can deliver better performance, but certainly with greater power efficiency. TSMC said that the 3nm process will reduce power consumption by 25% to 30%, improve performance by 10% to 15%, and increase transistor density by about 70%.
