OnePlus 9 Pro VS Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro Camera Comparison Review

In the century since the advent of photography technology, it has recorded the changes of the times, the colors of the humanities, and countless milestone moments. “There are always stories, seen by images.” This is the embodiment of the unique charm of imaging technology and the thinking and methodology of the OnePlus 9 series in the era of computational photography. With the development of mobile images, technology has put the rights of expression and recording in the public’s hands. Among the many mobile phone brands, the ones that truly combine “story” and “sense of science and technology” are still counted.

Since the birth of the OnePlus brand, it has exuded a strong “humanistic” glory. Now that the OnePlus 9 series chooses to cooperate with the century-old imaging brand Hasselblad, it has pushed OnePlus to a new “humanistic photography” level. The footprints of human beings on the moon for the first time, the Beatles crossing Abbey Road, portraits of superstars such as The Rolling Stones and Jimi Hendrix, Hasselblad can be seen everywhere. If it is said that “everyone is the protagonist of life”, then the OnePlus 9 series hope that everyone will also become the discoverer and recorder of life. Use light and shadow art to freeze the beautiful moments in life.

It coincides with the late spring of March when the grass grows Ying ying flies; let us follow the gaze of the OnePlus 9 Pro and take a look at the spring scene under the “Eye of Hasselblad”. Walking with us, there is another flagship model that has just been released: Xiaomi mi11 Pro. Let’s take a look at the different interpretations of the two in the same scenario.

Color is the basic factor of a photo. The color of the photo can be strong, faint, and rich. It can also be as natural and accurate as the OnePlus 9 Pro, and at the same time, enduring. Under the lens of the OnePlus 9 Pro, the historic red wall shows a sense of weight and weight. This is a texture that only time can wash away, and it is a characteristic of history only.

“Color” has always been Hasselblad’s strengths. To satisfy users who have higher requirements for a wide color gamut, Hasselblad created the L*RGB color space and added LAB color data to the extended color space to make up for the RGB deficiencies CMYK color modes. This is Hasselblad Natural Color Solution (HNCS).

Judging from the color of the screen alone, Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro is obviously more vivid. Whether it is the pink flowers or the green lawn in the distance, it is very pleasing to the eye. But if compared with the actual scene and human perception, the OnePlus 9 Pro is more real and natural. For color tuning, each mobile phone manufacturer has its own style, and this time, OnePlus has a strong “Hasselblad” texture.

In portrait mode, the OnePlus 9 Pro and Mi 11 Pro are very good at edge keying and background bokeh. But the color styles of the two are completely different. OnePlus is also restoring the truth, while Xiaomi’s side is a bit warmer. However, both do a good job of processing the details of the picture, especially OnePlus’s control of color restoration and white balance.

The “Hasselblad Natural Color Optimization” jointly created by OnePlus and Hasselblad brings a wider color space and better color gradation, which can bring smooth tonal changes and color accuracy to every photo. The overall feeling given to me by OnePlus 9 Pro is unpretentious but very attractive. For example, the mottled paint on the carved beams and the slightly faded traces on the ridge beasts will give people a sense of inexhaustible and unexplainable story.

The main camera of the OnePlus 9 Pro is IMX789, which is the world’s first sensor to support 4K 120-frame video shooting, and it also supports a 12bit RAW format for capturing up to 68.7 billion colors. The higher the color depth, the more colors are available. Even in the same scene, you can see that the sky captured by OnePlus 9 Pro will look more transparent and the gradient more natural. The Mi 11 Pro is a bit dark, and the overall style of the picture is conservative.

OnePlus 9 Pro’s color control can be said to have reached the industry’s top level, which is naturally inseparable from Hasselblad’s color tuning. Still, it also benefits from OnePlus’s accumulation of technology and aesthetics over the years. Natural and durable color performance, nuanced and extreme main camera, combined with 12-bit color depth recording, allows OnePlus 9 Pro to “produce blockbusters” when facing various scenes.

After talking about color and the main camera, the highlight of the OnePlus 9 Pro is actually just about to debut. It is the main camera super wide-angle lens, IMX766. For users, the ultra-wide-angle lens is a practical, commonly used, large-format lens. However, the natural “distortion” effect of ultra-wide-angle limits the expressiveness and filming effect of large scenes. This time, the OnePlus 9 Pro has realized a new ultra-wide-angle shooting experience with 1% distortion through the “free-form” lens.

This group of samples is more obvious. The glass ceiling at the bottom of the screen is already curved under the lens of the Xiaomi 11 Pro. On the OnePlus 9 Pro, almost no distortion was seen. Thanks to the free-form surface lens, OnePlus has significantly stronger control over ultra-wide-angle scenes.

We zoomed in on the edges of the two ultra-wide-angle photos. In the comparison of the straight arrows, it can be seen that the decorative lines that should have been parallel are still straight under the ultra-wide-angle lens of the OnePlus 9 Pro, while Xiaomi 11 Pro appears A slight bend.

The free-form surface lens used by OnePlus 9 Pro is obvious for the optimization effect of ultra-wide-angle edge distortion. Due to the “hardware-level” distortion elimination, the edges of ultra-wide-angle photos taken by the OnePlus 9 Pro are obviously more natural. Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro uses the “optimization” of the software algorithm, which will lose part of the picture. Although the overall effect is also perfect, facing the “hardware level” correction effect of OnePlus, it is still a bit inferior.

In this set of comparisons, we can also see that due to the addition of free-form mirrors, the OnePlus 9 Pro has a larger ultra-wide-angle viewfinder and better control of edge distortion. The edge of the building on the right is almost straight in the lens of the OnePlus 9 Pro, and no curvature can be seen. When shooting urban landscapes and buildings, the OnePlus 9 Pro can be said to be an absolute “weapon”.

Under the ultra-wide-angle lens of the OnePlus 9 Pro, even a simple staircase becomes more artistic in an instant. The ultra-wide-angle expands the viewing range of the picture and brings a sense of depth to the picture and a strong artistic flavor. The golden combination of free-form surface lens + main camera IMX766 brings more possibilities for mobile photography. Like what Liu Zuohu said on Weibo: This IMX766 is (probably) the widest shot among all main cameras; it is (probably) the best picture quality among all super-wide-angle cameras.

Finally, I want to talk about my understanding of the “story” of the OnePlus 9 Pro. Behind every photo, there is a story and a memory. We pick up the camera and press the shutter because we want to record what we see and feel at the moment with images so that we can recall the moment when we were shooting at any time in the future.

OnePlus | Hasselblad mobile phone imaging system equipped with OnePlus 9 Pro was born for “recording”. Natural colors, clear details, undistorted wide-angle, plus the “heavy feeling” belonging to Hasselblad. These elements are composed of a powerful and patient listener and recorder.

Let professional people do professional things and use professional tools to record ordinary but not ordinary lives. What the OnePlus 9 Pro brings to me is an easy-to-use and good-looking camera and the enthusiasm to pick up the phone to shoot and record. In the era of computing imaging, OnePlus continues its pursuit of the beauty of humanities and technology, and continues to make efforts in the field of mobile imaging, bringing more useful “cameras” to countless life “recorders”. Use more powerful technology to add a touch of color to ordinary life.

At the previous video communication conference, OnePlus announced that it will invest 1 billion in research and development in the next three years and is committed to bringing mobile imaging experience to a whole new level. At present, OnePlus has established four major R&D centers worldwide, and we seem to have seen the enthusiasm and confidence of OnePlus when it was committed to building the “peak of the screen”. Tell the stories around you in the language of science and technology, and paint the picture of life with natural colors. This may be the meaning of the existence of the OnePlus 9 Pro.
