Redmi K20 Pro Review: is That Better Than Samsung Galaxy S10

Facebook Twitter Pinterest LinkedIn Tumblr Email

Redmi officially announced that it will launch a model equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 855, becoming the first flagship mobile phone of Redmi. So why is Redmi to be a flagship phone? Lu Weibing said that the flagship mobile phone is the inevitable choice for Redmi to adhere to the ultimate cost-effectiveness, which has enabled Redmi to complete the high-end flagship and initially formed the product matrix of the ultimate performance flagship, the ultimate thousand-yuan flagship, and high-quality mass models.

The Redmi K20 series, which has been warmed up for a long time, was officially released. It has two versions, the Redmi K20, and Redmi K20 Pro. The former is the first Snapdragon 730 chip, while the latter is equipped with Qualcomm’s latest flagship chip Snapdragon 855.

In addition to performance, the Redmi K20 series is most concerned about the price, the Redmi general manager Lu Weibing also announced its price at the press conference, starting from K20 1999 yuan ($289.50), K20 Pro 2499 yuan ($361.91).

In addition, the Redmi K20 series has been redesigned on the appearance ID, using the lift-up front-end, and the back has also made a new design, which can be said to be the highest-value Redmi phone in history.

    Design & Appearance

The front of the Redmi K20 Pro adopts a full-scale lifting screen with a 2.1mm upper frame and a 1.85mm left and right margin. This design allows the screen to account for 91.9%. This is the first flagship of Redmi, and it is also the first model of the Xiaomi to adopt a lift-up front camera.

According to the official data, the aircraft’s lift-up front shot achieved a smooth rise of 0.8 seconds, with a magical light effect, 300,000 pop-up life, custom lift sound, 6 options. However, we are still unable to choose the lifting sound at this time, and it is expected to be added in the later update.

In addition, compared to other lift-up cameras, the K20 Pro cancels face recognition, which may be more power-hungry, because every time face recognition is unlocked, it is necessary to raise the proactive, but I hope to add this function to the later update.

The K20 Pro’s chin is controlled at 3.8mm. For reference, the Xiaomi Mi9 is 3.6mm, and the realme X is 5.5mm. The two models are positioned differently, so I won’t say more here.

The back of the K20 Pro has a new design compared to the previous models. The back is made of 3D four-curved glass and has a large arc design. The official said that the gradient film layer, nano-hologram pattern and optical coating layer are used. The pattern can produce different textures under a different light.

Thanks to this redesign, the K20 Pro has become the model with the highest value of Redmi, but compared to the current flagship model, the machine has a less refined sense of the back. After careful observation, the rabbit thinks it is possible. The back design is more “wild” and visual integration is not high. This is not as good as Xiaomi Mi9.

The K20 Pro’s rear three-shot is centered, and the first lens adds a decorative circle, which is officially called “All Angel Eyes” (M9). The right side of the phone is the power button and volume button. 3.5mm headphone jack, noise reduction microphone, breathing light on the top of the phone.

The bottom of the phone is a speaker, Type-C interface, SIM card slot. Redmi’s first true flagship! Redmi K20 Pro evaluation: cost is not the only advantage

    Hardware & Performance

As the first flagship of Redmi, the K20 Pro is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chip, which is available in 6/8GB RAM+64/128/256GB ROM versions. This is our 8+256GB top version.

In addition to the flagship of the chip, the machine uses UFS 2.1 flash memory, LPDDR4x 2133MHz dual channel memory, MIUI 10 and MI Turbo 2.0, which support MIUI 10, no need to worry about performance.

    Antutu running Score

After testing, Redmi K20 Pro’s Ann Bunny runs into 377095

    Game Turbo 2.0

    Game Turbo

Game Turbo game mode is a new feature of MIUI. It is first launched in Xiaomi Mi9. You can also call out the game toolbox in the game. You can see the real-time CPU, GPU usage and game frames, and you can quickly reply to the message without leaving the game. Find game guides and hang up the screen.

    Game Turbo

In game acceleration, users can set features such as chirality, continuous click sensitivity, edge suppression range, and display enhancement. In addition, the machine has built-in 8-layer graphite heat dissipation, and the official said that the heat dissipation capacity is increased by 650%. During the game, the heat level of the phone is significantly reduced compared with the past.

    Cameras

Redmi K20 Pro rear camera is 48MP (IMX586) main camera 13MP super wide angle + 8MP telephoto three cameras, Sony IMX586 will not say much, up to the flagship down to the thousand yuan machine, there are already many models equipped This sensor.

In terms of sub-photographing, the phone uses an 8MP telephoto lens, which is responsible for 2x optical zoom, f/2.4 aperture, 5P lens, 1.12μm. The other is a 13MP super wide-angle lens, FOV 124.8 ° super wide angle, f / 2.4 aperture, 5P lens, 1.12 μm. Compared to the camera of Xiaomi Mi9, it has no macro, which is one of the main differences.

In addition to supporting 48MP ultra-clear pixels, the K20 Pro also supports ultra-wide angle, moon, handheld super night scene, AI studio lighting, 960 frames slow-motion shooting and more. What’s also interesting is that this front camera has added a panoramic mode to accommodate more characters.

    Daytime proofs

    Open 48MP ultra clear mode

After the machine is turned on 48MP ultra clear mode, the imaging has more details and the picture is more delicate, but the size of the photo also increases.

    Night proof

Super night scene is not turned on

Turn on the super night scene

It can be clearly seen that after the Super Night Scene mode is turned on, the overall picture brightness has been improved, but the sky seems to have some color cast. Compared with the performance of Xiaomi Mi9, the gap between the two still exists.

    Battery

In addition to its appearance and performance, the K20 Pro has a built-in 4000mAh battery, which is rare in the flagship model.

    Online video playback endurance test

Start playing from 32% of the battery and connect to Wi-Fi. After 30 minutes, the K20 Pro has 27% remaining power and consumes 5% of the power.

    Game endurance test

Start with 95% power and turn on the game’s full-height special effects. After 30 minutes, the K20 Pro has 86% remaining power and consumes 9% of the power.

    Charging test

The Redmi K20 Pro supports 27W wired fast charge but comes with an 18W charger. Here we use the standard 18W charger for testing and connecting to Wi-Fi. After testing, the K20 Pro takes 80 minutes to fill, and 30 minutes is charged with nearly half of the battery.

    Verdict

Before the release of the Redmi K20 Pro, as long as there is a configuration about the machine, many users will be “true”, but after the release, the sound is weak, but it does not mean that the K20 Pro is amazing. Disappointment, on the contrary, the K20 Pro is rarely able to compete with it in the current mobile phone market.

The main reason is that the psychological expectation of the Redmi at the beginning of the user is too high. At that time, we expected the Redmi K20 Pro to have a unique flagship highlight. When it was released, it was found that it was only a mainstream flagship machine, such as the lift front. Photo, true full screen, Snapdragon 855, Sony 48 Megapixels, etc. These highlights have appeared in most models in the previous period, it is difficult to stimulate the user’s pain points, which makes the K20 Pro lack Enough innovation highlights support the true fragrance flagship.

On the other hand, it is the price of the machine. Before the release, we expect it to return to 1999 yuan, but it is clear that the price of K20 Pro can never be sold at a loss because the price of 2,499 yuan ($361.91) has been achieved. The 855 model has the lowest starting lineup.

In addition, the user habitually compares the Redmi K20 Pro with the big brother Xiaomi Mi9, although the former makes up the battery, it also uses the true full screen of the lift-up front, but compared to the latter, it does not give people a stronger flagship feeling, such as Xiaomi Mi9 The wireless fast charge, linear motor, infrared, etc. are all not available in the K20 Pro.

However, the K20 Pro is indeed a flagship in this market. It has a large battery, flagship performance, hardware-grade DC dimming, full-featured NFC, and elevating front-end, which are almost all expected by users. Below the price range of the yuan, the models that can match it are rare.

As the first stepping stone of the Redmi flagship, the performance of the Redmi K20 Pro has reached the standard, but it is not good, but it also allows the Redmi to accumulate experience value. How to position the flagship in the future, what unique highlights it has, believe them I already understand.
