Although the author has only used the Redmi K30 for only two days, the device has noticed a significant experience change compared to previous devices. The biggest feeling is that after playing with a mobile phone with a 120Hz refresh rate screen, I will go back and look at the 60Hz refresh rate screen, and I will feel that I am not following it. The Redmi K30 screen is really used and I ca n’t go back.


In addition to the 120Hz screen, Redmi dared to launch the Sony IMX686 sensor on the thousand yuan machine, which, like the Redmi Note 8 Pro, has an impressive 64 million pixels. This is also Sony’s first test of 64-megapixel CMOS. Prior to this, only the GW1 from Samsung was available.

The IMX686 used by the Redmi K30 can directly output 64 Megapixels and RAW format with 9248 × 6944 pixels in hardware. It has a four-in-one 1.6-micron large pixel unit, and it is a 1 / 1.7-inch super-large photosensitive element with an outsole. + High pixels, F1.89 aperture, 6P lens, can be regarded as an upgrade of Sony IMX586.

1. Daytime performance

There have been debates about whether high pixels are really useful before, and I would like to say some of my own opinions with the Redmi K30. First, under the same conditions, the increase in pixels can indeed bring about an improvement in sharpness. As shown in the figure below, using the Redmi K30 to crop the same scene in the daytime environment to the same size, one is a 64-megapixel proof crop, and the other is a four-in-one 15-megapixel proof crop.

The gap is very clear. With 64 Megapixels, the font of the distant billboards can still be distinguished after being enlarged. The high-pixel mode is also conducive to post-creation, whether it is cropping or editing with AI, it will be more convenient. It is also because, with this lens, the zoom effect can often be achieved by cropping, and at least 2x zoom is not a big problem.

As shown above, the Redmi K30 does not have a telephoto lens. Its 2x zoom is achieved by cropping and zooming in photos taken with 64 megapixels, and the effect is still good.

The other three rear lenses are: ultra-wide-angle lens, 8 megapixels, 1.12 microns, 120-degree wide-angle; depth-of-field lens, 2 megapixels, 1.75 microns (mainly used for background blur in portrait mode); ultra-macro lenses, 5 million pixels, 1.75 microns, supports AF autofocus. Compared with the powerful main camera, these three lenses have a large gap (the cost pressure brought by Sony IMX686 is already quite large), and the pictures taken will have obvious chromatic aberration, and the emphasis is on increasing playability.

This camera module is almost the same as the Redmi Note 8 Pro we reviewed before, except that the main camera has been replaced with a Sony IMX686.

2.Dark light performance

Thanks to the large size of the Sony IMX686 sensor, low light can be captured clearly. It is said that the rear camera of the Redmi K30 uses the same algorithm as the Xiaomi CC9 Pro, which supports the “night god” super night scene. After the experience, the author believes that its performance under the city night scene can already be equal to many flagships that have been used before. The more extreme dark light scene is still not enough to shake the flagship status, but it is better than all the same price products I have used.


The performance of the Redmi K30’s 4G and 5G versions are different. The processor uses a familiar old friend Snapdragon 730G. The 5G version is adopted by Qualcomm’s heavy 5G rookie Snapdragon 765G at the end of this year. The integrated 5G dual-mode SoC is manufactured using the latest TSMC 7nm EUV process. The CPU, GPU, and AI architecture are basically the same as the flagship Snapdragon 865.

In front of the 5G version, the performance part of the Redmi K30 4G version using the Snapdragon 730G has no highlights, but it meets the top performance of the price segment from 1599 yuan. After all, the Snapdragon 730G is the strongest core after 765G. It uses the 8nm flagship process, which is 38% stronger than the Snapdragon 710 on the CPU. The single-core performance is 20% stronger. The GPU also has a 15% improvement.

Whether it is the Redmi K30 4G whose price is as low as 1599 yuan or the Redmi K30 5G with a 5G mobile phone that costs 1999 yuan, both can give users a flagship experience in some areas. What is more worthy of attention is the Redmi K30 coming next month 5G, its meaning to the public will be “the first 5G mobile phone for young people.” The 4G version also has its own positioning and target audience, especially in the early stage of 5G commercial use. 4G still has great value for thousands of yuan users.
