Design
The TRONXY X5SA equipment includes a 3.5-inch color touchscreen, a heated print bed, leveling and filament sensors. The maximum temperature of the printing platform is 100 ° C. The filament holder and extruder are on the right side of the housing. The plastic print pad is glued to an additional aluminum plate and ensures that the filament adheres well. The entire printing platform is pleasingly flat. This is not always the case with the first version of the Ender 3, for example. The maximum print size is very generous at 33 × 33 × 40 cm. According to the manufacturer, the printer works with PLA, ABS, HIPS, WOOD, PC, PVC and, thanks to the titanium extruder update, now also works with flexible TPU. The printing speed is between 20 and 100 mm/s- the manufacturer recommends 60 mm/s.
The filament sensor attached behind the extruder detects if the print material tears or runs out. The printing process then pauses automatically and can be continued after filling. The TRONXY X5SA continues the print job even after a power failure. This worked in a one-time test. However, one should not intentionally interrupt the process, as such seams often remain visible. This function is still very useful for a print job lasting several days.
Thanks to the proximity sensor on the printhead, leveling is easily possible in a short time, despite the enormous size. The sensor measures the distance to the printing platform at 16 reference points and shows the differences on the touchscreen. The print bed with the 6 adjusting screws is then quickly aligned by hand.
