WAYS TO MAKE YOUR COMMUTE LESS BORING

Brady CottonBy Brady CottonFebruary 13, 2020

In the modern world, people spend most of their lives either in offices or commuting to them. Commute can become boring considering you have to travel every day to your place of interest. Students have to reach their schools, colleges or universities while working people need to get to their offices. This time can turn out to be a disaster if you don’t have anything to keep you busy.

But it doesn’t have to remain this way. You can find creative solutions to ending your boredom and finding something worthwhile to do while en route to your destination.

    1. Music

Contrary to what the majority thinks, music is a good way to soothe your mental stress and relax your body. There’s a wide variety of music available that can make you feel elated so why not listen to some cheerful melodies to kick-start your day with a smile or two? But to hear good music, you require high-quality earphones. The Shure SE846 is an excellent choice for commuters looking to enjoy their time and this earpiece comes with a Bluetooth cable for added convenience. Music comes with extra benefits and we’ve got science to back up this claim. Studies reveal that music carries several benefits which the general public is unaware of.

Check out this site to know more on the benefits of music to you.

    2. Plan the Day

Let’s say you’re not reaching the destination in less than an hour every day. Would you rather spend your time accomplishing nothing or thinking about what lies ahead? I would go with the latter if I were you.

Studies prove that people who plan their day and focus on what they should, do benefit from increased productivity. Since you need to come up with a list of things that you need to get done, you will establish priorities, plans, concrete steps to accomplish those plans. This will help you land ahead than everybody else. You can read more about the benefits of planning the day here.

    3. Daydream

Your mind is a vast place where you can easily get lost. While you’re sitting on a train, a car or a bus with your mind just wandering about without a map, thinking about anything and everything. Letting your imagination carry you anywhere it wants. By the time you’re done with this activity, you’d be amazed to realize how interesting and relaxing it was. Daydreaming can indeed help you relax and doze off into the fictional world for a change. The real world can be stressful sometimes so daydreaming will successfully help you cope with these stresses.

    4. Read Books

Reading books can make your commute more interesting than ever. The world’s richest CEOs recommend reading books to the general public. A book is a condensation of an author’s life’s work and for us to learn it within a few days is a beautiful concept and what better place to read a book than your daily commute? In fact, in a few days, you’ll become so engrossed in books that you’ll become excited at the thought of your commute, start looking forward to them. Books are that interesting and addictive!

    5. Relax and Meditate

Lots of people believe meditation requires a special place, occasion or posture to perform successfully. However, none of that’s true. To meditate you just need to be present at the moment. Your everyday commute doesn’t have to be a stressful place where you think about the stuff you always do so instead you can just sit comfortably, close your eyes and breathe. Remember to pay attention to your breaths and as you inhale and exhale oxygen with this attention you’ll feel relieved.

Studies have actively supported meditation and instead of rotting in your boring commute you can enjoy a session of meditation with yourself. In no time, you’ll see that your days are becoming stress-free and your meditation will begin to have positive effects on your life. That’s a promise.

    6. Think About the Positives in Your Life

The biggest reason for negativity is the constant comparison and it needs to end. If you wish to stay happy then start thinking about all that you have, instead of the things that you don’t. Starting tomorrow, just think about the things that make you happy. You can think of a funny memory, a happy one or something that you have that others don’t. In no time your attention will shift and you’ll become a more positive person.

Positive people attract more people as their vibes are very comforting and relaxing. People enjoy hanging out with positive people. So, make it a habit and in your commutes, think about the things that you should be thankful for.

    7. Learn As Much As You Can

With the internet, there is no limit to what you can do, watch or learn. The internet is full of articles, reviews, videos and things that you can learn. Commutes take a long time and they can be nerve-wracking in most cases. However, it doesn’t have to remain this way. You can steer through YouTube, Twitter, and/or any application or even Google and search all types of things that you’ve always wanted to learn.

Imagine learning how to play the piano on your morning commute. It can be a healthy, resourceful habit to learn something new every single day. It could be a good trait, a better career choice and/or something useful that you can use in your life. Moreover, podcasts are available on all the topics you can think of. Just start something that interests you, close your eyes and fall in love with your commutes instead of hating it every single day. Make life worth living.

    8. Laugh Your Way Through the Commute

Who doesn’t enjoy a good laugh? We discussed YouTube above and it has tons of videos that you can watch to have a little chuckle or two. Furthermore, the internet is full of funny pictures and videos that can make your day interesting.
Science says that laughing promotes your immunity and makes your life interesting. You will start to witness positive changes in your health both psychological and physical. These days, stand-up comedians are popular and they can make your funny bone tickled. So on your next commute, gear up for a comedy session.

    Conclusion

According to studies, people spend around 25 minutes on their commute every single day. By multiplying this number with the number of days people work or students study you’ll get a gigantic number. We all have 24 hours in a day and none of it should go to waste. People can do all sorts of activities on their commutes that can make life interesting and better. Imagine realizing in your 70s that you spent most of your life in commutes but didn’t manage to do anything which could have been fun or at least made you laugh. So, start making your commutes interesting from tomorrow!
