LG announces V40 ThinQ With Monster Five-Camera Features, 6.4-Inch OLED

The LG V40 ThinQ, its photography-forward flagship smartphone, at a New York media event on Thursday. The announced device touts five cameras, unique photo editing features, and a stunning 6.4-inch OLED display to view the selfies and panoramic images users take. As expected, the biggest selling point is the V40 ThinQ’s ability to take photos. Company executives showed off the distinct quintet of lenses not found on any other smartphone by highlighting that the V40 ThinQ will put the versatility of owning a camera with multiple lenses right in your pocket.

In terms of design, from the real phone rendering of the leaked news @evleaks, the LG V40 ThinQ has a “bangs + chin” design and two cameras in the bangs groove. The body measurements are 158.7 x 75.8 x 7.79 mm and weigh 169 grams.

Come to see what is next”, it is not difficult to see that the biggest highlight of the new LG V40 ThinQ is that it has 5 cameras, including a front camera of 8MP + 5MP Dual-lens lens, and supports face recognition. Rear 12MP ordinary lens (aperture F1.5, single pixel 1.4 micron) + 16MP wide-angle lens (aperture F1.9, single pixel 1.0 micron) + 12MP 2x optical zoom lens (aperture F2.4, Single-pixel 1.0 micron).

The LG V40 ThinQ will be finished with a tempered glass back cover that is “sand-blasted” to produce a matte finish that is smooth and has a good scratch. The camera also has three cameras placed laterally on the back and equipped with a fingerprint recognition sensor. The bottom is equipped with a USB-C connector and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

In terms of color, LG confirmed that the LG V40 ThinQ will initially offer three new colors: white gold, Moroccan blue, and carmine. It is worth mentioning that the LG V40 ThinQ has a Google Assistant button on the border that can be used to wake up the voice assistant. The LG V40 ThinQ will use a 6.4-inch P-OLED panel with a resolution of 3120*1440 (3K level) and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9.

It should be noted that the P-OLED panel is not a new technology, and LG has been used in the G Flex series a few years ago. As the name suggests, Plastic OLED panels are made of plastic, not traditional glass. Compared to glass substrates, plastic substrates have the advantage of making the panels lighter and thinner, while also providing better performance in terms of plasticity and bending. It is worth mentioning that the previous LG P-OLED screen display effect is not as close as the Samsung’s specifications of the OLED screen, not only will this break.

In addition, since the hardness of the plastic is far less than that of the glass, the scratch resistance of the P-OLED panel is worrying, and the feel and transparency are also behind the glass panel.

LG V40 ThinQ built-in Snapdragon 845 mobile platform, central processing unit (CPU) 4 large core clocked at 2.8GHz, 4 small core clocked at 1.7GHz, graphics processor (GPU) for Adreno 630; the memory for 6G (also has the largest 8G memory statement), flash memory is divided into 64G and 128G.
