Qualcomm today has officially released a new generation processor, Snapdragon 450, which is the upgraded version of Snapdragon 435, Snapdragon 450 processor is the mid-range smartphone SoC, adopting 14nm process, compared with 28nm process, the efficiency will be improved largely, and reduce the power consumption.
As the most powerful processor of Snapdragon 400 series, Snapdragon 450 still adopts Cortex A53, 14nm process, in addition,Qualcomm will also improve its Snapdragon 435 1.4GHz to Snapdragon 450 1.8GHz, The new Hexagon 546 DSP is 5 times faster than Snapdragon 400 series.
Snapdragon 450 supports 60FPS video taking and playback, up to 13MP dual rear camera, USB 3.0 and QC3.0 quick charge, in addition, similar to Snapdragon 435 processor, supporting X9 LTE Modem.
Snapdragon 450 processor specs has fixed Adreno 506 GPU, adding Vulkan and DirectX 12, this GPU is a quite high competitive processor, using 14nm process, while Adreno 505 GPU uses 28nm process, so the Adreno 506 GPU will bring nice performance and power consumption. Qualcomm shows that first Snapdragon 450 device will be released in Q4, 2017, therefore, we will enjoy Snapdragon 450 smartphones as soon as October.
