Igeekphone 5/8: Technology media sumahodigest released a blog post today (May 8th), sharing the renderings of the Sony Xperia 1 VIII smartphone, confirming the new square camera module and 4 color options. The release date is expected to be May 20th, 2026.
In terms of color, Igeekphone cited the article’s introduction, stating that the flagship Sony Xperia 1 VIII phone will come in four colors: Obsidian Black, Iolite Silver, Garnet Red, and Native Gold.

In terms of appearance, the pictures released this time are similar to the previously leaked renderings. The back of the device features a brand-new square camera module, and the Sony logo has been moved to the camera area.
Based on the previously disclosed information, this device will be equipped with a 6.5-inch 120Hz OLED screen with a ratio of 19.5:9, a resolution of FHD+ HDR, a Qualcomm 5th-generation Snapdragon 8 Supreme Edition processor, and 12GB of memory. It also retains a 3.5mm headphone jack and dual SIM support.

In terms of imaging, compared to the continuous optical zoom telephoto of Xperia 1 VII, Sony’s current model might revert to a more traditional approach, using a 48-megapixel, 1/1.56-inch telephoto lens and fixed at 3x optical zoom.
