Xiaomi is still trying to develop a flexible device/foldable phone, WndowsUnited reported today.
The patent was filed with the U.S. Patent Office on September 30, 2019 and published on September 15, 2020. The patent number is 16587604.
An electronic device including a body and a flexible display screen is introduced. The body comprises a first surface, a second surface and a side surface. The first side is opposite to the second, and the flank borders on the first and the second.
The flexible display screen is divided into a first display part and a second display part. The flexible display can switch between the retractable state and the sliding state.
When the flexible display is indented, the first display part covers the first surface and the side, and the second display part covers the second surface.
When the flexible display switches from the indent state to the scalable state, the first display part slides along its free end in the direction close to the side to show the hidden area of the first surface.
Xiaomi previously released the Mi MIX Alpha phone with a surround screen, but it didn’t ship. In addition, other manufacturers such as Huawei and Samsung have launched foldable phones, while LG and Microsoft have also launched phones with rotating and folding screens. So far, Xiaomi hasn’t given up on a new generation of special-shaped screens.
